Anyone have any? 2010 Alabama comes to mind. Their losses,

-The star alignment game where GOAT Garcia went off in Columbia
-The Les Miles eating grass and gaining super powers game
-Cam Newton's incredible comeback

This Bama team would go on to throttle #7 Michigan State in the Capital One Bowl. Vegas would have been high on this team had they made a 12 team playoff, maybe even the favorite?

Not the 2024 Alabama Crimson Tide. Any team that loses to Vanderbilt should be disqualified for the playoffs for at least a decade.

2013 and 2023 LSU could’ve been frisky in a 12 team playoff system. “Could’ve won” might be a bit of a stretch

Both had insane talent on offense and just non existent defense

That Mich St team wasn't actually good. Only 3 teams in the Big Ten that season had over 8 wins and MSU didn't even play the best of that bunch.

I feel like USC had several of these during the McKay-Robinson era. Absolutely loaded with elite talent and could demolish great teams on a good day but they would derp a few games every year.

2007 Florida with your Heisman winner. Bowl game loss to a bad Michigan though. But a lot of 2007 teams could lay claim to this.

Last year's LSU team had potential to make noise. The offense could put up a ton of points on anybody, but the defense was complete garbage. That team should have been 15-0 with even an average SEC defense.

3 Loss Teams Who would’ve been/could’ve been in the playoff since 2014

2023 - No 3 loss teams would’ve made it
2022 - Utah and Kansas St both would’ve made it (Conf Champions)
2021 - Utah (Conf Champions)
2020 - No 3 loss teams would’ve made it
2019 - Maybe Auburn would make it (11 seed)
2018 - Washington (Conf Champ), Florida, LSU and Penn State (10,11,12 seeds)
2017 - Auburn (7 seed)
2016 - Wisconsin, USC, Colorado, Florida State (8, 9, 10, 11 seeds)
2015 - No teams would’ve made it
2014 - No teams would’ve made it

Seems like 2016 or 2018 might have had a 3 loss go deep but nothing super inspiring here

Utah had a good defence and run game which I think would pay off in the playoffs so if I had to pick one of these teams I’d go with them.

If given enough attempts eventually a talented 3 loss team that underachieved will get hot at the end and win it.

2016 USC finished #3 in the AP and #5 in the Coaches'. Soundly beat Washington on the road and beat a great Penn State team in an epic Rose Bowl. If not them, I don't know who.

2007 Florida would have potentially been about an 11 or 12 seed and would have been a team not a single team in the playoffs would have wanted to see waiting for them. I think they stopped truly giving a shite after the LSU loss.

2001 LSU SEC Champions.

Rohan to Reed was basically unstoppable at the end of the season

2013 was a better team. A little bit worse on offense, but a good bit better on defense. Our losses were @#9 UGA in a shootout to the end, @#1 Alabama, and @Ole Miss in a fricking Oxford fluke.

That team would've made serious noise.

Good one. That team was full of juice end of the year and no one wanted that matchup.

I don’t think anyone would have wanted to play the 2001 LSU team at the end of year.
