Making 5 straight in the West is like 10 straight in the east.

Dame Lillard faced more all NBA players in the playoffs this year than LeBron faced in the East from 2011-2018.

Mid 80s - 90s. Legends and stars spread out

Jordan - Bulls
Magic - Lakers
Bird - Celtics
Drexler - Blazers
Thomas/Bad boys - Pistons
Dominique - Hawks
And on and on.

Had the GOAT rivalry with Lakers vs Celtics (Magic vs Bird). That transitioned into the Detroit no fly zone run. Which was followed by Jordan cementing his legend with Houston “Heart of a champion” sandwiched in between

I kinda hate this era, tbh. I prefer more parity. It’s essentially a foregone conclusion that barring steph curry being brutally murdered, the warriors will make the western conference finals, and probably win it all. I feel no suspense watching the NBA. There is one team heads and shoulders better than every other team, they play an insane number of games, most teams’ superstars are injured and miss half the season, and we know the winner before the season even starts. The games themselves are entertaining, but until the NBA gets some parity and moves away from this “super squad” movement where all the talent is consolidated in just 1 or 2 big market teams, it’s hard for me to pretend to care.

I know the NBA has always kinda had this problem, but it feels worse now.

The Dream
Wilkens
Bad Boys, Isiah, Dumars vs. Jordan

2004-2011 had a fair bit of parity with six different champions in eight years. Then LeBron went to Miami and it all went south.
