They only seem meh because of parity.
Bama is the ONLY team that maybe untouchable. Every other team in the country is far below them.

Nah, any team who loses can't complain. It's hard to picture five undefeated teams, so whoever gets left out can't say they got jobbed.

Just go to a 16 team playoff and dump the bowl games altogether. Would make for an awesome december.

As long as this means every conference champion gets in the playoff (even the lowly Sun Belt one) I'm in.

Nope...super 66. 64 in the current P5 plus ND and BYU.
14 pods of 4 teams and 2 pods of 5 teams (mt pod with BYU, rust belt pod with ND).
play home and home against other in POD. Maintain rotating games with other PODs to keep current rivalries and current conf affiliation.
POD winner moves on to post season. No polls. Just a committee to figure out the bracket.
