MLB has to change this shite this offseason. Marlins easily throw out a runner trying to tag and score, but it's nullified due to this horseshite rule.

Total shitshow.

Yah I can't fricking believe that call. How is the catcher supposed to catch that ball any other way?

How hard is it to not block the plate?

ETA: just in general, I didn't see this play specifically.

Just go watch this play and you will see it's not even remotely close.

According to the rule, the correct call was made. It's just a horseshite rule.

I just watched it, and I've got no problem with the call. The catcher could've easily been standing in front of or straddling the plate.

If they aren't going to allow collisions, the catcher can't block the plate. It's not difficult for position players to not block the bases, and it's not hard for a catcher to not block the plate.

Seriously. They're making moves to compete in 2014 & that garbage costs them a game.

He moved to his left from the plate to catch the throw from the outfield. If he doesn't catch the ball, it goes to the backstop.

Is he supposed to catch the ball behind the plate then run up to make the tag?

His body was in front of the plate before the ball was near him. Had nothing to do with him moving to catch the throw. That's the reason the run was allowed. It's not illegal to block the plate once he has possession of the ball.
