Not so sure man. FOMO is a real thing and these fanbases (e.g. Nebraska) are livid.

I mean, it’s not like major conferences change members every few years...

No one is playing this year so it’ll be moot in a month

I’m not so sure. There are already some fractured relationships that aren’t just gonna automatically get fixed the second the SEC cancels. If Nebraska feels like they have no voice in the Big 10, they’re gonna continue exploring options.

Obviously there’s not gonna be just 4 superconferences ready to roll in ‘21, but this is already causing relationships to be both broken and formed and may wind up being the impetus to a monumental change in CFB. Or not. I’m fine with the status quo, though, so I’m not hoping for any of it. But the soap opera is getting interesting.

Yep, that sounds like Nebraska.

It's why they bolted the Big12. They weren't going to let Texas dictate the Conference.

And still, after all these years of mediocrity, Nebraska still wants to be big dog in their Conference ala the glory days of playing in the Big 8.

Nebraska has the safety and comfort net for all their sports in the Big10 - plus some added prestige to attract students.

But if football is the only thing to them and they have to have total control and final say - then go Independant...because they constantly act like it's every Conference's fault they're average and that they deserve a seat at the big boy table.

Clearly OP is right. Has there been anything with more sustainability than the current alignment of the P5's?

First of all, yes. The current alignment is still relatively new. Secondly, nothing ever happens until it happens.
