Here are links to the official websites of the three main univeristy systems in Louisiana, with the official names of their primary member institutions included. You will not find "The Univeristy of Louisiana" listed amongst them.
Also, why the hell does Louisiana need three full university systems? Talk about state money down the drain.
University of Louisiana system:
- Grambling State University
- Louisiana Tech University
- McNeese State University
- Nicholls State University
- Northwestern State University
- Southeastern Louisiana University
- University of Louisiana at Lafayette
- University of Louisiana at Monroe
Southern University system
- Southern University and A&M College
- Southern University at New Orleans
- Southern University at Shreveport
also
- Southern University Law Center
- Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center
Louisiana State University system
- Louisiana State University and A&M College
- University of New Orleans
- Louisiana State University in Shreveport
- Louisiana State University at Alexandria
- Louisiana State University at Eunice
also
- Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center
- Louisiana State University Agricultural Center
- Louisiana State University Health System
- Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center - New Orleans
- Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center - Shreveport
- Louisiana State University Pennington Biomedical Research Center

It is just jr. highish. It bugs me. Name another school that goes by the "tech" moniker that is not an INSTITUTE of something. Louisiana is just Louisiana Tech. Nothing else.

I dont know, why don't you go ask Virginia Tech, Texas Tech, and the rest of the Techs out there

First off, if ULL bore the UL moniker, it might be the worst university to bear the "University of (State)" name in the country.
NSU is older, Natchitoches is older, both are more beautiful than ULL and Lafayette. There's just nothing special about ULL, and certainly nothing that sets it apart from the other UL system schools. If there were, there would be an argument. It's just another school where just about any retard can get a degree.
Again, the University of Louisiana is and always has been Tulane.
Dick envy dick envy dick envy.

Virginia Tech = Virginia Polytechnic and State University
Georgia Tech = Georgia Institute of Technology
MIT = Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Cal Tech = California Institute of Technology
Louisiana Tech = Louisiana Tech

ULL has nothing to offer that the other schools don't. "More to offer" is a phrase of buzz words that mean nothing. ULL's history is in no way synonymous with the history of Louisiana, and most of Louisiana doesn't esteem ULL above any of the other ULs.
Louisiana doesn't consider ULL the University of Louisiana. Never has. That's why it doesn't bear the UL moniker.

You know where else there is no UL?
On the bowl schedule.

louisiana has way too many 4 year schools. some of those should be CC's and schools like ULL and Tech should be getting more funding IMO
Bingo! Louisiana has the highest proportion of state 4 year colleges to population in the nation. LOUISIANA! of all places... it'd be a lot better for the state as a whole if a hand full of them folded into regional CCs and transfered the funding. Each region would still have access to an Associate level education and many trade certifications, while the four year colleges would be better equipped to serve those looking for advanced degrees.

Has anyone seen the episode of Seinfeld where George wants to be called "T-Bone." But nobody will. That is what this whole situation reminds me of.

Louisiana Tech University was called Louisiana Polytechnic University for years. It was officially changed in the 70's maybe?

Go to hell. When you start referring to yourselves as LSU A&M I'll start referring to us as ULL.
Worry about your own school, we'll deal with ours.

The difference here being, as always, that the A&M portion of LSU's name references a single college at the University, while that extra L is part of the official name of the University in Lafayette.
By the logic that Louisiana State University should always include the A&M College in its title, shouldn't it also include the E.J. Ourso College of Business, the School of Medicine, the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, and all of the other Colleges and post-graduate schools in its official title? That doesn't happen because it would be ludicrous.
ULL, on the other hand, is the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. That is it's name. For people who are associated with that University to claim otherwise just makes the entire state (which said University is trying to represent by its unofficial name-grab) look even more backwards and foolish to the academic community in the rest of the country than it already does.
You want to change that? Then get the State of Louisiana and the University of Louisiana system to recognize it officially. Until that happens, y'all are only spouting so much b.s.

Suck my logic.
Worry about Georgia Tech and your next DC.

Ignoring the facts is why the griping about the name won't be taken seriously.
Y'all should spend less time worrying about your identity and worry about your team's bowl game.
Oh, wait.

You should tell TechDawg to refrain from starting these threads. No griping on our end until called on it.
I tell them the same thing on the UL board. Bitching about LSU only feeds the tards that get off on it.
Save the crap throwing for when the Cajuns come to Tiger Stadium. Then you'll have an actual reason to sneer at us.
