That is one of the GOAT points and yet part of the reason this sport is out of control. Human beings are not meant to play three out of five sets with every point some 35 shot ridiculousness.

SMS, I am fully aboard the coco double wide express!

The two running volleys Grigs hits to win that point are pretty darn sublime. Hope this guy wins a major this year.

Can y'all tell me more about how players play on the tour (Harrison).

So did he/Dimitrov withdraw from doubles just so Harrison would have a better chance against Kyrgios?

If I am reading the schedule correctly, Harrison is set to play in the Brisbane final 12 hours before New Zealand, will he still make the Auckland tournament after making the finals in Brisbane?

Obviously these pros play a ton of matches, if they keep winning, but what does a week look like when a player loses in the first round of these first round tournaments vs making it to the finals. Will they stay and train at the tournament location because their travel is already set? Everybody different?

lsupride87 is buds with him and gives us some good inside baseball once in a while. I will say tournaments accommodate guys a lot who play the week before and can give them time off up to Wednesday or so. But, that is usually for seeded players who already have one bye and would also have another day off baked into the week. In short, some players have a couple of days wiggle room the tournaments can utilize.

In this case, Harrison probably entered both tournies to guarantee himself a couple matches before the Aussie Open, not really expecting to make the Brisbane final. A lot of times, the 2nd tournament (Auckland) will stagger the start times in the 1st round to allow Harrison a day of rest, but it’s not always possible. I would imagine he will withdraw and rest up for the Open.

Regarding your other questions, Pride might be able to give you some answers directly from Harrison or Venus.

The second tournament will accomodate the schedule to allow travel time for players who made the later rounds of the tournament before

Most guys will leave and head to the new destination if they lose early. They have scheduled flights, but they have so much status with the airlines chs I guess flights is a simple call

I'd be surprised if someone like Federer even flies commercial.

Fed and some others may be in a net jets like program

But plenty of highly ranked guys still fly commercial, albeit first class

Here is a good article on the travel

They almost all fly commercial for long international flights in first class

The majority still flies economy for shorter flights

Bummer, Harrison couldn't convert on 5 break points in the first set, Kyrgios got just one and that was enough to get the set and go on to win the match.

Any of y'all head out to the Newcombe tennis ranch as kids? I believe that Harrison's dad was a pro out there and Harrison did a good bit of training as a kid there?? I went out there 5 different summers. Great times.

Australia might be another mess of withdrawals. Murray is in a fricked up state of denial right now. Every video I see of the guy, he is moving at like 50%, yet he won't just go get surgery or whatever. I hope Nadal and Djokovic are just being careful for Melbourne. The time is now for NextGen. Looks like Edmund and Shapo had a great match today.

Murray had hip surgery today. Out until Wimby.

Shapo is my guy.

Looks like Harrison decided just to skip the Auckland tournament to get ready for Australia.

That 2nd set from Kyrgios was the best I’ve ever seen him play. I was starting to think he had maxed out his level, but he has added variety to his ground game and started hitting fewer tweeners. With that serve, there’s really no reason he shouldn’t be consistently reaching the semis of slams.

Shapo vs. Delpo in Auckland right now.

Delpo took care of business there. It must be hard for the young players to get out there and play a guy that hits the ball so flat. Has to throw their timing off.

I watched Taylor Fritz last night. Must be kind of ironic to be the #1 seed in the Qualifier. So I guess that means he was the first one out for the main draw, but that means he has to put together 3 wins just to get in now.
