At least he battled through the third set. Stevie wins the third set breaker.

Congrats to John on 10,000 aces. Does anyone have a tiebreaker record for him? I'm curious how many he has played.

You've got 1 player who is mentally tough as nails and 1 who is ironically a mental midget. Gee I wonder which one is going to win a deciding tiebreak.

Can’t find anything for career tiebreak records.

There’s a decent little event starting tomorrow morning...

Draw

Fritz vs. Johnson up next. Not sure who I'm pulling for in that one. I guess Fritz since he doesn't have an ATP title.

Something about Fritz annoys me, but people say he's a great kid. Love Stevie's heart, even if his game is a little flawed.

Gutsy effort by Fritz in fighting off two match points and taking the second.

His commitment to slicing his backhand is crazy. I don't understand it.

Stevie?

Like learn to hit a topspin backhand, dude. You’re a pro tennis player.

Tennys making the trip to Monte Carlo for a match that will be early Tuesday morning in the States is sort of impressive. Most players would surely withdraw. $17K euro just to show up helps.

Being a way late bloomer, his outlook on things is refreshing. He just wants to take advantage of opportunities.

Was awesome to hear his interview after the semi saying those things. As is the case with most regular joes on tour I suspect, he's super concerned about the points from the good results coming off the books and just wants to go and grab more to keep that ranking up. I have come to enjoy some of the lower tier matches on tour for this dogfight aspect.

Down goes Shapov. Sad face.

Berdy clearly no longer wants to play pro tennis.

Tennys is up to 1033 points, rank #47. Only 350 of those are from the AO. I hope he can stay healthy and stick around the top 100 for a while!

Interesting to see that Steve Johnson didn't get any bump from the win this weekend, because he was simply defending the points from his win last year.

How come Tennys is one of only 2 Americans in Monaco? They all going to Steve's wedding?
