Ok how about the Modern Era known as the BCS. How do the two programs stack up against each other?

Miami won 2001 and has a team that is arguably "the best team in college football history"

Put the 2001 Miami team on the field against either the 03 or 07 LSU team and Miami wins running away. Enough said.

Well they have one of the best teams of all time in 2001 and were robbed of a MNC in 2002.

Serious question. How many BCS Bowl games has Miami won?

Seriously?

The only realistic way to break up college football is Pre and post WW2

or for championships with the AP in 36 or w.e

Really?

The Miami hurricanes have had a few down years. Many think they got robbed in 2002, with the PI call, or they have two in a row. They looked poised to be good for the next couple years, with a couple stellar recruiting classes.

That being said, they have 5 NC in the last 25 years. They are the best "modern day" program going. No one else has that many in that amount of time, that I can recall. They also have more talent than anyone else short of FSU. They were ridiculous!

You can't have it both ways by celebrating certain actions then calling others that don't like it racists.

How am I having it both ways?

You do realize LSU lucked out and made it to the BCS in 08. I've got a question for you. When was the last time LSU went undefeated??

Because Miami actually did it in this decade.

Definitely. In hindsight, it's easy to like Miami because of their pro players and their confidence, but how many people on here who aren't from Kentucky actually like John Calipari and what he is doing? How about the arrest record of guys at Memphis in the past few years (both before they arrived on campus and while they attended)?

I am sure that if people knew more about UNLV basketball, the nostalgia would be similar, but there are lots of valid criticisms of that program.

As for the documentary, it had some very good parts and some shitty parts. Anything with Luke was fun to watch because of his brazen disregard for the NCAA. The interviews with Jimmy Johnson and Schnellenberger were also good. I wish they had interviewed Torreta and Jim Kelly since they were important players. Steve Walsh and Bennie Blades were interesting to listen to, while Kosar is quickly becoming Arite Lange. It's hard to believe that he was supposed to be the brainy leader.

The ending was bad because it looked like Butch Davis ruined the program. Of course he didn't do that, and he set up the team to become even better than its peak in the late 80s. I also wished they had detailed the NCAA violations a bit more. The Orange Bowl destruction montage was also completely out of context, but the director of this documentary is essentially famous for amusing but not particularly intelligent documentaries about Miami street life.

They have been to four BCS bowls and won three of them, and should have beaten tOSU in 2002.

I'm not even a Miami fan, I just hate ignorant, potentially racist, homers.

Agreed. The ending sucked, and looked like it was made by someone who doesn't watch much college football. Blaming Butch Davis for the collapse of the program was hilarious.

The ending felt rushed and they never really went into the NCAA issues. it could have used another 30 minutes or so

I totally forgot to finish my thought

I am surprised that they don't get half the attention on here that the U gets. It's probably because the board has tons of football fans. I think they are more influential (good and bad) than the Fab 5, but I was very young for both teams.
