Not a lifelong fan, but I'm moving to Pennsylvania soon and I need a new team to watch on TV, so the Pirates will be graced with my fanhood. I suppose I should go ahead and join the bandwagon now- I would be honored to be accepted by you all.

Jameson Taillon has some elbow tightness. Even if there's nothing structurally wrong, that June callup isn't looking so hot

Been a fan since the late 70s. They are setting themselves up nicely for a solid run...starting in 2015. Cole is a legit #2 soon to be #1 but relying on Liriano, Wandy Rodriguez, Charlie Morton is very iffy. Sticking Edison Volquez in the 5 spot (actually signing him at all) is a head scratcher and so far this spring he has been a total disaster. Also, I can't wait for Polanco to get the call up but he will be young this season and very inexperienced. Lambo is a bust and going with Tabata, Snider, and Dirty Sanchez at RF/1B is a stopgap at best. They need to trade a prospect for a solid 1B in the offseason. Bring up Taillon and next season, Glasnow, to set the rotation with Cole, Polanco will have experience, we will have one of the top OFs in baseball, get a legit 1B over the winter....AT LEAST NLCS in 2015. WS in 2016.

Travis Ishikawa is a terrible first base platoon option. Sanchez can hit lefties but if Ishikawa is the left handed 1st baseman, you're not looking so good. Lambo is not much better but at least he's young enough to where he may break out with extended ABs.

Are they waiting to start Polanco's clock?

I think the Pirates will finish 2nd and get one of the wild cards.

Yeah..I didn't bother mentioning him.
I think we might get another WC this season but we slide back a few games. But the only way we make the playoffs is if Liriano stays healthy and replicates 2013 (though having back to back solid seasons and staying healthy is something he has never been able to do in his career) and either Morton or Wandy (or both) have decent seasons. Doesn't have to be great, just give us a chance in ballgames. Cole will do his thing and the bullpen will continue to be solid, IMO.

Segura is just meh. Braun and the fake Cargo are the real beasts on the team. Fake crush Davis could also be excellent.

Last year, my friends and I wanted to get into the MLB even though we didn't have a team; we narrowed it down to rooting for the Pirates. Our rationale is as follows:

1. Black and yellow is similar to black and gold and we're all Saints fans already.
2. Historically bad franchise so we can't be accused of being cocksucking bandwagoners.
3. One of our friend's family is from Pittsburgh.
4. NL team

Do I qualify for this thread or should I GTFO?

It's too bad that he'll be starting off in the majors.

Initial tests on Taillon's elbow were fine but he's getting a second opinion. I hope he's OK, he could hopefully be the 3rd starter later in the year.

If Polanco pans out, that's gonna be one nasty outfield.

Yeah, I really hope that is just some inflammation or mild tendinitis. Shut him down for a couple of weeks and let him stay in the minors until the break and then see where we are.

Marte, Cutch, Polanco...yeah that will be an absurdly fast OF with plus arms. Bringing serious offense.
