The Robert Mays article "Hope Is All We Have" on the Cubs win is the only one I've read from the Ringer. It was legit. I enjoyed it.

But not nearly as bad as the Friday one. He brings Lombardi on to talk about football but Bill is an idiot when it comes to football so he literally has no clue what Lombardi is talking about half the time and can barely follow along. Then he brings house on to rush through their NFL picks which are always wrong so they can obsess over the Warriors and Steph Curry or how great this above average Celtics team is.

it certainly doesn't seem to have as much buzz as Grantland did and that was ultimately a financial loser.

lossing Lowe is a problem

As far as the tv side goes, T-mac and chauncey billups are way better than what they had with Simmons though I haven't watched a lot of it. Simmons is too much of a fan to do that job any justice

I am not a big fan of rose but I seem to be in the minority there.

Lombardi is his best guest and he gets 10 minutes to say what he wants as bill talks over him the whole time

Lombardi is a great analyst of the game but Bill just ruins it. An actual conversation will go something like this...Lombardi-You know whatever team really did a great job of exploiting this player cause he really struggles in this area. Thats why they called a lot of whatever type of play and then Bill will say some shite like "Yea I agree. I just didn't like the body language or karma this team was showing." Like how the frick can you watch sports as a job and not have a clue what is going on.

Bill will watch 5 seconds of a game and make a determination of that teams season odds right there. And he will flip flop EVERY WEEK

"I was watching the chargers and my god they are terrible!!!

Next week: I tell you what I watch a couple plays in that chargers game and they are fiestly! They can do things!"

that is spot on Bill.
Preseason: The Bucs are gonna be terrible(his reasoning was LOVIE SMITH was their coach and remind yourself again this guy is paid millions to talk about sports) and I just don't know if Jameis is that good.
After Week 1: Is Jameis gonna win MVP? Are the Bucs going to the playoffs?
Now: You know I'm out on Jameis. I just don't think he's good.

You could have made 1000s betting against him and House this year.

He also said one week he could not name a player on the Saints defense (remind yourself again he is a self proclaimed NFL expert who is paid millions to talk about it).

He doesn't watch CFB either yet he talks about some incoming rookie that he loves who he has literally never seen play outside of highlights.

I think the baseball coverage is pretty good. Ben Lindbergh and Rany Jazayerli are among the best baseball writers around. Not that Rany writes too many articles there though.

The NBA one has gotten much better since Chris Vernon took over

As far as the website itself, it's closer to buzz feed than grantland, which is a shame

I used to be Simmons biggest fan boy, but he is just not an administrative guy. He's a creative writer who has some talents, but also needs a leash.

Dude also needs to shut the frick up with the politics. We get it, you have so much white guilt you put Wesley Morris on three times a month to assauge it.

Last Morris one I listened awhile back was one of the last Simmons pods I listened to.

It wasn't that Morris was a bad guest but Simmons kept projecting shite onto him. Kept bringing up blackish and the Jeffersons. Morris kept trying to get off of it and Simmons continued to talk over him. Then something something Boston...

Yes, it's awful. Not that I loved Grantland but it was way better. Also his TV show is getting terrible ratings

Same thing happened with Wambach on AGW about women in sports. I was actually impressed with how she handled it.

I was just telling my bro recently that Simmons' biggest fanboys on the message boards are destroying him and have lost interest, in part due to the political talk. My bro couldn't understand because he is a bit of a libtard. He thought Simmons is staying pretty

Bill thinks he's staying neutral too. A few weeks ago he had Jacko on and they were talking politics obviously and Bill said "By chance I guess my staff kind of leans left" like he's not consciously going out and finding gay black guys to hire so he can look progressive

My favorite was on Monday he brought on Jack-O and jack-O ends the conversation saying basically "both options suck" and bill just goes dead silent for a while and then mumbles"...well said"

Like he was frightened to not knight for Hilary

Great timing for this thread. I was reading Clay Travis mailbag earlier and wondering if Simmons still did his. Simmons actually knew how to do a lengthy and worthwhile mailbag article.

Agreed. Travis, like him or not has become what Simmons was 5 years ago, he has basically stolen his old model and improved upon it. A couple very humorous columns and mailbags and a radio/audio/visual daily show where he rips morons and talks bluntly.

He is also not a total PC leftist douche like Simmons and his cronies have become and is actual one of the lone voices in the sports world who is outspoken and passionatly against it.

He has really captured that contrarian/outsider voice that Simmons used to own.
