but for the toughest test in golf, once a year, I love it. The pros have to play like we do...hoping to make par.

Exactly!

This monster is borderline unfair and will be the subject of much controversy this week.

Good. I like my US Open absolutely ridiculous in difficulty.

As Long as the course is fair I am ok with it, when it is no longer fair, that is when it is crazy.

I don't mind seeing absurd tracks every now and then. Sometimes it's fun to see pros look like hacks.

I hope some no name that barely qualified throws up about a 105.

This is going to be awesome.

My golf dream is to try to qualify just to see what tose set ups are like. I just want to experience what the announcers and players say is so difficult that there's no chance an 8 handicap could break 100.

I would probably start crying sometime during the second round. I remember playing a high school tournament and the rough was like 3 or 4 inches and with that shite you could barely advance the ball. I can't imaging playing with 6 inch rough

My pops played in a tournament there in the 80'a and finished 2nd to a TOUR player. TOUR player shot 91, dad shot 92., Tourney was cut to 1 round. It was 30 degrees with 45 mph winds off the Bay. 50 guyssstarted, 6 finished

Those "no names" that qualified are really good players. It's not like it's a lottery

I think we are all aware of that, but there is probably one or two players every tournament that throws up an 80. I would not be surprised to see a high 80's round if they player doesn't WD first.

As long as good iron shots actually stay on the green,I'm good. It's supposed to be the hardest of the majors. This course kind of favors the bombers more than the fairway, green, putt well guys imho

I'm aware... But a few of them are still no names. I don't care if it's a no name or not, but I want to see some of the opinions on the course if a few people go 90+. 105 is probably not realistic, but 90+ could be. I mean, Fowler shot an 84 a couple weeks ago.

Agree about the iron shots. If it turns into a scenario like Shinnecock in 2004, it becomes unfair.

But, I don't think Olympic is a bombers' course. Yea, there are some long holes, but the premium is on finding these fairways that are about as wide as the hallway from your living room to your bedroom. A lot of guys will hit less than driver.

I love the difficulty of the us open. The fact the course is so tough makes me want to watch.

I was at the 3rd and 4th rounds of the Open at Winged Foot in 2006...most brutal layout I have ever seen. Winning score was at +3 I believe. I immediately got the feeling of Winged Foot when I did a look at Olympic Club's layout the other day.
