So is this worse than KD only being able to get up 1 rep of 185 on the bench at the NBA combine?

Yes. Easily

This vs KD not being able to bench 185 is a pointless argument without context. It is unlikely either guy was just sitting resting waiting to get on the bar/bench as far as I know they move from workout to workout at a decent pace so you could easily be able to complete a pull up/press at full strength but after fatigue you might not be able to.

I was going to say even I can do a pull-up. But then I thought about it and no I probably can't. I was thinking of a chin-up.

Pull-ups are different from chin-ups. No big deal. He isn't expected to be a fighter anyways.

That's incredible. I know nothing about hockey but I'd think a decent slapshot would require at least some upper body strength. 0 pull ups? Do aspiring pro hockey players generally not work out at all? I would think just being out on the rink constantly playing a contact sport would give you average strength unless you were just a completely inept athlete.

This is true. Most healthy men can do at least a few chin-ups. Most probably can't do one legit pull up.

Some kids that get drafted by a nhl team probably won't play in the nhl right away, they go to the AHL team of the team that drafted them

Yeah not in the same ballpark. If you don't lift you're not just gonna walk into a gym and bench 185, particularly with a frame like KD.

If he can skate, pass, shoot and handle the puck who cares if he can do a pull up? KD is super weak and he is pretty good at basketball, this kid could be the same way in hockey.
