Why do you think they were having that meeting in the first place?

Because certain owners didn't want to be associated with kneeling, then those owners were portrayed as modern-day plantation slave owners by the media (even the sports media), and the NFL wanted to save face.

Not really. Sides have long been picked on this issue and this isn't changing anything.

Agree to disagree.

I haven’t seen the proposed ad but let’s imagine if it’s some guy with both legs blown off holding an American flag or someone badly maimed. I think this decision is bad PR. That’s just me.

Maybe so.

ETA: I agree with Roger that it SEEMS the NFL is catering more towards the demographic that supports kneeling.

Given all the inbreds and rednecks flocking to social media to talk about "them black folks dun disrespect mah country!!!" I think it's pretty safe to say they have been expressing their views fine.

Ironic considering the "millennials are such triggered snowflakes!!!" crowd are the ones losing their mind

The NFL has every right to deny this blatant propaganda

Which means they weren't supporting the kneeling.

That meeting was to come to an agreement eventually to possibly stop the kneeling.

So, players have the right to express their views, but the people who serve to protect that right don't deserve to express their views?

Why is the concept of freedom of speech so damn hard for people like you to fully understand?

NFL rejecting it just reminds people who are mad about the issue to be mad about it again. Then they'll forget again next week.

You have every right to criticize them for the decision. You just look dumb when you try to make it a freedom of speech argument.

This needs to be repeated over and over.

Time to chime in

1. First Amendment rights does NOT apply to advertising. PERIOD.

2. The NFL is being paid by the DOD to be patriotic. Just like the breast cancer people do. And who's making money off the military-style apparel they sell?

3. Literally every commercial break features an insurance company or banking service that provides services EXCLUSIVELY for veterans.

4. If these guys want to help veterans, would their money be better served making Super Bowl advertisements or actually getting off their asses and helping the scores of veterans who are in DESPERATE need of assistance. I'm pretty sure homeless veterans with PTSD and other disorders don't give a frick who's kneeling at a football game.

Yeah, it's no secret that the NFL has aligned itself towards the left side of the spectrum.

Just be honest about it. Don't try to play the whole apolitical card.
