re: The NFL isn't college football's friend - it's the greatest threat to the CFP schedule

Money didn’t kill the amateur model, courts did
That’s like saying your foot got wet because you stepped in a puddle and not because of the downpour of rain that morning.
No one would give a frick about courts if CFB were not an entertainment behemoth.

College football has gone to absolute shite
Hardly watched any of it this past season.

I’ve said it over and over, and will say it again: college football has leverage on the NFL. College football is the free minor league system for the NFL.
No it doesn’t.
What are the conferences/schools going to do if the NFL says “F-off. We will schedule our games when we want”? End the multi BILLION dollar college football business? Move their games to the spring and, in the process, lose revenue?
The major conference schools need college football more than the NFL does because it is a multi million dollar business for each school. The NFL may not want a minor league system, but it has the means to create one if necessary. Colleges have NO other product that can generate the revenue college football does.

Obviously there’s more money around LSU and Alabama than around Slippery Rock and Lenoir-Rhyne… the NCAA is just too big with Divisions I, II, and III. The major programs dont even really need it anymore. The small colleges playing for the love of the game are idealized by the general public and this has caused problems.
Yes those small colleges have the ability to have NIL and an open transfer portal too.

Most big colleges are funded by mine and yours taxes
The players need college football way more than academic institutions need it

frick CFP on this....and with a white hot poker. For 40-50 years the NFL has been doing late season Saturday games, so they sort of own it. All of a sudden ESPN and ABC decide to juice up their balance sheets by promoting the CFP playoff....and start moving into NFL crunch time and even playoffs.
CFP fricking with the shield, not the other way around. Wanna have a playoff and you want it to begin right before Christmas, then guess what, either accept Friday night or an early game on Saturday, or scrap the whole thing December and January have always belonged to the NFL with the carve out for college between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day or Jan 2.

CFB can shorten the season by elimination conference championship games.
Of course, they won't do it.
