Isn't the Dad ESPN's own Craig James or is that just a rumor?
One and the same. He has been removed from working their bowl game by ESPN.

I'm starting to think I jumped the gun on my original response to Leach and that the kid is just a pussy...

Does it have to be an either/or situation? I think the opinions about James are probably about right, especially knowing who his dad is, and the description of being a "little league dad". Leach had had enough, and wanted to humiliate him. Bad move coach.

It looks like it's both. The kid may have been a pussy, but you can't punish someone (even a slacker) that refuses to practice because he has a concussion. That's way too hot an issue right now.

The coach did something wrong. He didn't tell Craig James to come pick up his whiney assed son and leave the team....for good.

The kid was 10th on the team in recieving. Sounds like Leach was taking out frustrations on him. Just a bad move by a head coach that is trying to teach and influence young people. I can't imagine Les Miles doing this. Kick him off the team but don't do frat hazing on him.

I think there was an issue with something similar at LSU, but nothing was done because Miles ended up just locking himself in an electrical closet.

Clearly James did not have a want to be in the closet.

Miles did the same thing to a player. He meant to leave him in 3 hours, but got confused and left him in 3 minutes.
Nothing ever came of it.

Texas Tech has been looking for a way to fire Leach and he just gave it to them. Regardless of the motiviation for suspending him, he chose the wrong way to make his point. If the kid had done something behaviorally to warrant a punishment, then he should be punished but doing this to a kid who was following what the doctor told him to do is total bullshite. Leach sounds like a real a-hole.

Yesterday, i was going with the kid, but the more I hear this I have to side with Mike Leach. I'm 48 years old and I constantly my 17 year old or rather ask him about the youth of today who just seem to be wussies and can't take anything. As some writer put it yesterday, what would today's youth and media think about what the Bear did with the Texas A&M group. I bet the Aggies wish their team had been prepared yesterday by the Bear. Good point. If The Bear did that today he'd be arrested.

Yeah, the Bear whipped them boys into shape and Made them have respect for each other and the team. Still today, the Bear is one of the best coaches ever around. Hell, we were beat at LSU before even taking the field. Mentally, You look over there and see the BEar leaning against the goal post, and you knew you were in for a long day. Will always have the utmost respect for him.
