Agree I think 92 and 93 are the best Bulls teams. Those front lines were big, quick and came in waves. The second version was built for specific playoff matchups.
The 1st teams were more athletic but the 96 and 97 Bulls were perfectly constructed teams. I’m glad Kukoc got some love in episode 7 because he was extremely important during the 2nd 3 peat. He was their 3rd option on offense and he was the NBA 6th man of the year in 1996. Harper was a great complement to Jordan in the starting lineup and Kerr played most of the crunch time minutes on offense. I’ll take the 96 and 97 Bulls over any team in league history.

think it’s good that everybody important is being shown in a 360 degree frame, good and bad. Phil and Kukoc seem to be overwhelmingly positive because that’s how they were while Jordan, Pippen, Rodman and Grant are shown having good and bad issues.
I guess the surprising part is how little positive play Scottie is getting. Rodman got nearly an entire episode and he was only there for half the 3 peat.

I keep laughing imagining today’s NBA players being teammates with MJ. He would mentally kill so many players.
I mean the Cavs almost needed to call counselors in because Beilein said “thugs”.
There's a difference between getting belittled on the best team in the NBA and one of the worst. When you lost the amount of games those bottom dwellers lose, that motivation goes right out the window

My pick would be 93. I think at that point Cartwright was getting more appropriate minutes while King and Williams got more of what they deserved. I think Grant and MJ were at their best too. They were the deepest of the teams and MJ was right at the peak where he was still the top athlete in the league and at his peak mentally, fully grown into the triangle.

Well like Jordan and Pippen said about the Olympics, they had nothing against Kukoc, it was all on Krause and Kukoc was the punching bag.
Watching Kukoc's highlights in Europe are a joy. Would have been interesting to see his numbers had he been the lead dog on a team or at least the second option.

The disparity is glaring, but people are a product of the overall generation. A modern Jordan might be a different character too.
Naw that’s what made him different. Like Bob Knight said way early on - he’s not just the most talented guy and the most athletic guy, but he’s also the hardest working and most competitive. He was the perfect storm. That’s just who he was.
There are still dudes like that in the NBA - Russ comes to mind. But that’s just who Jordan was.

True, he had that first episode where it tells his story but it’s clouded by the contract then tonight it shows him growing into the more compassionate leader in MJs absence then the incident in the Garden. But then again can you imagine the media scrutiny if a player with his stature had done what he did today? They also didn’t show him punting a ball into the crowd after missing a FT which could’ve been used against him as well.

It applies to some of the best teams and players in the league too.
KD has burned accounts on social media because he’s that mentally fragile. Him and the another top tier player in league ran when the going got tough.
There are various other examples.

The fact that BJ Armstrong has gotten way way more run in this series than Scottie is also pretty crazy. Maybe Scottie just gave a bad interview and Armstrong is much more charasmatic, but that should have never been the case.
I thought it was interesting, and telling, that BJ Armstrong was the one that MJ contacted and was ultimately the pathway that led to his comeback. MJ didn't call Pipp or anybody else, he called BJ. Was interesting and said a lot to me about what MJ thought of BJ.

BJ comes off as that guy Jordan could always rely on, never did anything to piss him off (or something substantial to piss him off) and just clocked in and went to work

Scottie got half an episode showing his life story early on.

It was always told that Jordan’s son favorite player was BJ Armstrong

BJ was a great Hawkeye, so I have a soft spot for him

Just my opinion but I think the earlier version could win more ways while post 95 were specifically built. I wouldn’t argue against your choice though and I do like your point about Kukoc, he’s vastly underrated.

I know, but this overall series has been a net negative for his legacy IMO. For a player who is criminally underrated, it's unfortunate.

He was an 18 ppg scorer the 2 years after Jordan retired but he was aging. I think he could have been very Dirk light especially if he had played during the same era. He was one of the first successful Euros in the NBA. He would thrive in today’s game.

I enjoy seeing Scot Van Pelt and Stanford Steve with the throwback Bulls point spread endings lol

That 89 team with Marble Armstrong and Jepsen were fun to watch.

What more could they say about pippen? This isn't a rank the top bulls players on these teams documentary.
