I think you are confused. In a season every team plays another team at least home and away so minimum is 2 games. You play 3 conf games and 4 division games and 2 games vs opposing conf.
These Cup playoff games replace the reg season game. So for instance Miami and Orlando played last night. The league will take away one of their normally scheduled games against each other so they are not playing an extra road or home game. They will still each play 82 games this season.
The only exception is the final Cup game. Those 2 teams will play 1 extra game this season.
