Penn State and Ohio State beat Wisconsin. It is that simple...if one of those schools were not on probation, they would be in Rose Bowl.

It's a stupid nickname they gave themselves and they shoved it down people's throats until it stuck. It didn't even have to be true or quantified.
The same way Michael Jackson is the "King of Pop" or James Brown is "The Hardest Working Man in Show Business." It's a bullshite nickname. It doesn't even matter if its a fact. It is what it is.

If a team that doesn't win it's own division can make it to the NC I don't really have a problem with a 5 loss conference champion in the Rose Bowl.

It is funny that NIU being in the Orange Bowl seems to bother ESPN more than UW in the Rose or UConn in the Fiesta.
