In most cases where I've seen it called the defender's head has been damn near in the offensive plauer's chest and between the elbows. They can't swing down because they can't swing anywhere without making contact.

They can swing into the body, just not the face. once again, if a player is playing good D, that's the offensive players problem.

There's good D and there's obstructing motion. They swing into the body and given the inconsistencies with block/charge calls it'll get called an offensive foul.

The defender's face is right in the natural path of the elbow in most cases.

Offensive players need to swing the elbow down, not up. it's an easy way to make rooms and a avoid these calls
So he should bring the basketball right into an accessible area for the defender? No, he did what he was taught which is if the guy crowds you rip the ball through and blow past him

you rip the ball "through" not "up"

You obviously didnt see the play, he didnt bring it from his hip up, he brought it through, the ball was already up there

the TNT guys are all over this right now
this is just smart coaching and taking advantage of a bad rule
another reason why good players should gtfo of college (or skip it altogether) as soon as they can

Has this been going on all year? It's beyond stupid. Are they trying to outdo the NFL on ridiculous rules?

It hasn't been near this level but it does happen once every other game or so.
Just happened again in the Gonzaga game although that was more of a foul.
