I'm all for Tua getting his money, and I understand why he wants that amount, one is that it is the market value and two, he knows he's one hit away from never playing again so he wants to be financially set.
Is it the market value? Or is it the top of the market? Not being contentious, just genuinely curious how people perceive these QB contract renewals. Average QBs and their agents have been able to price insane premiums into their contracts due to organizations' fear of not having an average QB.
Sort of fascinating to watch play out until you look up and you're the guy paying Daniel Jones $40M a year. But muh cap % -- I get it, as fans we're told to view it from that perspective because it's more easily justifiable while we collude to bring down RB pay. Only to commit $40M/year or, in Tua's case, more to injury-riddled, average QBs.

I say lol when I see something hilarious which means it was either very funny or hilariously stupid. I’m sure you can figure out which one from here. Or maybe not.

Tua’s been more available to his team than Burrow has. Facts.

No. His explanation was that Tua was injury prone thus why he doesn’t deserve the money.
It doesn’t matter to the Bengals.
Why do facts bother you so much?
—-
Burrows big knee injury was because of an offensive linemen pushing a D linemen into his backside. Those missed games shouldn’t even count.

With one less game, Burrow has 16 more touchdowns, the same amount of ints, a higher completion percentage, 2000 more yards, and as mentioned, a SB appearance.

Tua doesn’t have the same individual numbers, nor team accomplishments.
What you stated is the opposite of a fact. It’s easily proven untrue

He lead the league in passer rating in 2022 and was 5th in 2023, but yeah he’s not dominant at all.
Ryan Tannehill led the league in 2019. He must be just as dominant as Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, etc.

Passer Rating
Even if we’re using that one, arbitrary measurement, Burrow’s 2021 season was better than anything Tua has.

Burrow brought the Bengals to a Super Bowl and his injuries aren’t as career threatening.
History of Joe Burrow injuries:
Aug 14, 2017, Ohio State, Hand Wrist Fracture, Burrow suffered a broken bone in his throwing hand during practice and had an operation to repair the fracture. He missed the start of the season
Jan 16, 2020, National Championship Game, Chest Rib Fracture, Burrow suffered torn rib cartilage near the end of the second quarter in the College Football Playoff national championship game in New Orleans.
Nov 22, 2020 NFL Knee ACL Tear Grade 3 Burrow suffered a torn left ACL, a torn left MCL, a partial tear to his PCL, and a partial tear to his meniscus, during Week 11's loss to Washington. He was placed on IR and was shut down for the 2020 season. That knee was shattered and had to have total reconstruction.
Dec 5, 2021, NFL Hand Finger Dislocation, Burrow suffered a dislocated pinkie finger in the Bengals' loss to the Chargers.
Jan 2, 2022, NFL Knee Strain Grade 1.
Feb 13, 2022, NFL Knee MCL Sprain Grade 2 Burrow suffered an MCL sprain in the final minutes of the Super Bowl.
Jul 27, 2023, NFL Leg Calf Strain.
Nov 16, 2023, NFL Hand Wrist Ligament Tear, Burrow left in the second quarter of Week 11 vs. the Ravens with a right wrist injury. He missed the remainder of the 2023 NFL season.
Joe Burrow has missed many more NFL games than Tua due to significant injury. He has had severe injuries that have twice cost him NFL seasons. There were 8 NFL QBs who didn't miss a game last season. Tua was one of them.

Has Burrow considered retirement for his injuries?
Tua has

Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa considered retirement after his multiple stints in the concussion protocol last season -- the first of which briefly landed him in the hospital.

Tua’s had two top 5 seasons while Joe has had only one (and a top 10 season).

Tua is one concussion away from being out of the league by all accounts. He's a good QB, but the risk is too great to give him that contract. You can't have your franchise QB being one cracked coconut away from retirement.
Burrow's injuries have been serious, but not career threatening.
As far as the players themselves, Burrow had his team almost winning the Super Bowl, while Tua never has come close to winning a playoff game.

First six games of 2019, the Titans scored 98 points with Mariota as the starting QB. Went 2-4.
Last 10 games of 2019, the Titans scored 304 points with Tannehill as the starting qb. Went 7-3.
Their offense improved by 2 touchdowns per game with Tannehill so yeah I’d say he was pretty dominant that year.
Btw, if Burrow is so elite then why did his back up come in and put up the exact same numbers as him? Actually the team scored more PPG with Browning (A guy who hadn’t thrown a regular season pass in his career and hadn’t started a game since college in 2018) than they did Burrow (25 ppg to 19).
You want to talk about team accomplishments then let’s tell the full story:
Tua’s record as a starter: 32-19
Burrow’s record: 29-22
Tua led the 2nd highest scoring offense in the league last year (29.2). Joe has never led an offense better than 7th.

Can’t wait to see the meltdown on this board by LSU fans when Tua gets his contract.

This argument just ended with you legitimately comparing Ryan Tannehill to Joe Burrow

Because that happened in your mind and not reality. Tannehill had an elite year in 2019, are you saying he did not?
Mind you, I wasn’t the one who brought up Tannehill to begin with - that was you. You tried to pull a gotcha and I put your arse in place.

And yet joe has still thrown for more touchdowns, performed better in the playoffs, etc. Team accomplishments help tua, and yet still his best statistical season isn't even in Joe's top 2.
