Sweet. Hope he can be more apart of the Braves threads. Although anyone that makes fun of people calling out Fredi will get on my nerves quickly. Anyone that has played high school baseball+ or coached even Little League level baseball+ can easily locate major flaws in how he coaches. And clearly his observation of his own players is severely flawed too*.
*See Fredi's comments last yard on Jordan Schafer's OBP for example.

Any other coach sticks with Durbin and he is a master of the baseball domain because he stuck by his guy through the struggles to see him show some success over the last 9 games...Fredi does it and he is an idiot who is playing with fire.
You throwing out a little league coaching gig as grounds for criticizing Fredi is so fricking laughable. You think Fredi tripped into a major league job?

Absolutely not true. I loved Cox but he definitely made decisions from time to time that drove me insane (remember Brad Clontz??? ).
Never coached any level of ball but I can honestly say a handful of Little League coaches I met/played under when I was younger would be consistently smarter than Fredi.
It's a mystery as to how he got a MLB manager job because they guy is not smart. Sorry if that bursts your bubble.

Am I the only one rooting for the nats in their series with Philly? I love to see Philly lose any time I can.

I've never gave my opinion of Fredi one way or the other, taking a step back I probably shouldn't be putting down people who put down Fredi because I absolutely hated Cox and contend to this day that Schuerholz shoulders most of the success of those 90s team.
It just seems that Fredi gets way more shite then he should, I'll get off my Fredi defense from here on out.

I love it too although I truly believe the Nats are for real. Could get scary come August with their pitching staff. The saving grace may be if/when they shut down Strasburg early. Although I'm not convinced they will if they're in the middle of a division race.

So let me make sure I'm understanding this: You hate Bobby Cox but spend countless posts defending Fredi Freaking Gonzalez?
Not really trying to be a dick but that makes absolutely no sense unless you are just trying to go against the grain on purpose.

If bashing a guy relentlessly until it gets extremely old is going with the grain then please consider me going against that grain.

Pretty obvious that most Braves fans don't like him.
And trust me, it gets old too watching your manager consistently make bone headed decisions. Played a key part in us not making the playoffs last year.

You'd be shocked.

Lineup philosophy? Avoid 2 lefties in a row no matter what.
Double switches? Use them as often as possible.
LOOGY? What you spit out when you have a lot of phlegm in your throat.
ROOGY? Typo.
OBP?
Matt Diaz? Late inning defensive replacement for Heyward.
Jose Constanza? Major league caliber leadoff hitter.

So if we don't have anything bad to say about Fredi then don't say anything at all?
Posted on 5/5/12 at 2:33 pm to LSUsmartass
Dude give me a break. We talk about PLENTY outside of Frediot's decisions. You must be new.
Posted on 5/5/12 at 2:37 pm to okietiger
New?
Who do you think started the ATL threads?

I was being sarcastic however I would think that someone who'd been around that long would know it's not all we talk about...

Seriously?? I don't frequent the Atlanta area as much in recent years but most friends and family I have think/know he's an idiot.

No it's not 100% of the discussion
Posted on 5/5/12 at 2:55 pm to LSUsmartass
He really does make very strange, cookie cutter decisions. And unfortunately they do happen with regularity. My 2 absolute biggest issues are pigeon holing reliever's roles and when they HAVE to be used and also absolutely ignoring the value of OBP.
Posted on 5/5/12 at 3:01 pm to okietiger
He does have faults, and we all have our opinions and dislikes. But he also does some good things like shaking up the lineup, sometimes for 2 or 3 straight games until something clicks.

Fredi's bullpen management has been better this year.
Yesterday was just weird. Not sure what he was doing on the double switch unless Jhey was hurt or something.
We never know everything, but he does make some stupid decisions with the info we know

Yeah he has managed the bullpen better so far this year despite the dedication to Durbin.
Having Medlen back and adding Livan has been so crucial. We had almost no middle relief help last year other than Martinez.
