To start off, I think this is a really big series for the Braves. At this point of the season, it's important to start taking care of business when we get 9 game homestands and such. Going 3-6 on them is unacceptable and can't be had, not by a team still wanting to play for the division.
With the Blue Jays coming into town, here are the pitching matchups(All times central):
Tonight(6:00) - Romero (3.01 ERA) vs Hudson (4.08 ERA)
Tomorrow(6:00) - Stewart (2.57 ERA) vs Minor (5.47 ERA)
Wednesday(12:00) - Jo Jo Reyes (4.18 ERA) vs Beachy (3.45 ERA)
I think tonight's game might be the most important, and by far the best pitching matchup. Romero is a youngster that has thrown well this year and Huddy has struggled lately. Over his last 7 starts, his ERA has gone from 2.86 to 4.08 with only 3 quality starts in that span. If we can take the win tonight, I think that will give us some good momentum going forward with the youngsters on the hill the next two days. It's going to be nice to see Jo Jo back on the hill, seeing that it's pretty much an automatic win.
Unforunately, like the Rangers, I think the Blue Jays match up very well against a team like the Braves. They are going to score runs, especially against inexperienced pitchers. It will be up to the Braves to swing the bats well this series and hopefully take some leads into our bullpen's hands. Let's win tonight and set the tone for the series.
Tonight's Lineup:
Schafer CF
Gonzo SS
Heyward RF
Freeman 1B
Uggla 2B
Ross C
McLouth LF
Hernandez 3B

Timmy needs to stay on top of that sinker and we should be golden.
I agree, we really need these games. Gotta win the home games

here we are late into june, and we're still wondering if uggla will hit...the team as a whole can't hit, but uggla has been the poster boy for shitty hitting this season.

It's beyond pathetic
He has been putting some better swings on the ball at times as of late, but it's still not near where he needs to be. I'm actually quite surprised the Braves are 7 games over .500 when a guy who was supposed to be their best hitter is the worst hitter in all of major league baseball.
He seems to like hitting 2nd seeing as his average is .231 there instead of his .177 overall average

Yeah it's pretty amazing we are in the position we currently are all things considering. If we can just hold on until Prado, Chipper, and Hanson are healthy and until guys like Uggla and JHey start to hit the ball, we'll be just fine. That's a huge "if" all the way around though.

When healthy, I would bat Uggla between Chipper and Mac
Prado
Freddie
Chipper
Uggla
Mac
Heyward
Alex
Nate

If Uggla were just hitting .235 our lineup would be dramatically better

what do ya'll think is going to happen when Prado gets back
who stays in the starting lineup? Schafer or McLouth?
You have Schafer, who brings that added element in speed that the team needs. And McLouth, who makes starting player money.
We'll see how it plays out, but it's interesting to see what they will do.

Tonight's lineup vs TOR (7:10 Peachtree/FS South): Schafer 8 Gonzalez 6 Heyward 9 Freeman 3 Uggla 4 Ross 2 McLouth 7 Hernandez 5 Hudson 1

This lineup scares the crap out of me. Heyward and Freeman in the 3 and 4 hole against a nasty lefty. We arent going to score much tonight. We gotta have Hudson's best.

Whitie that hurt my neck.
But anyways Minor is pitching tomorrow then being sent down to make room for Beachy?

Did you read DOB's blog today about the trade?

Yeah. I expect Gearrin to be called up soon too.
Posted on 6/20/11 at 3:06 pm to volfan30
We should be close to getting Moylan back soon right?
Posted on 6/20/11 at 3:06 pm to Chatagnier
No. A couple months away from that.

Nuh uh, but I probably don't agree with it. He hated Yunel
While I hated his work ethic and attitude, and agree that it tremendously helped our team chemistry last year after he left, I still think this team would be so much better with him hitting at the top of the lineup.
I'll check out the article here in a bit.
