That's why article said he may get the deal, because he could start as C, and then DH/1B to extend his career

Hey Swamps, try not to lose your shite here.

I could see that. RT @scottcoleman55: could La Stella be Martin Prado-esque sans the position versatility down the road?

I think he gets on base a little better, but that comparison does make sense.

I'm still holding out hope for Alexander Guerrero....

I just don't know how well La Stella's game will transfer to the Bigs. He was 24 in AA, he's had trouble staying healthy, all he does is hit for average, etc. A lot of his minor league value comes from the fact that he walks a lot and doesn't strikeout. Can he keep that up in the majors, especially if he doesn't hit for power?

If he puts up a line of say .280/.330/.380, he might be better than Dan, but he still won't be that great.

Basically what I'm saying is right now I wouldn't feel comfortable going into next year with La Stella starting

Saw somebody suggest Infante today.

No way that happens, right? I'm thinking he is going to get a Scutaro-type deal from Detroit.

Would be interesting to see what happens with him if he gets and turns down a QO.

If Infante turns down a QO, his market is toast

Would be very interesting. I seriously doubt he would turn down a QO, but that would be the most interesting test of the system yet.

Brandon Phillips might be available.

Don't get any ideas, Frank

I see very little chance La Stella has that low of a split between BA and OBP, kid has excellent walk rates and insane BB/K rates. That's not going to change that much jumping levels. He's currently raking in the AFL as well.

The injury thing would be a concern for me too, but some of his injuries were fluke things like being hit by pitches, particular his major injuries that had him out for a while.

Not sure why you wouldn't be comfortable considering we had Uggla's sorry arse putting up a .5 WAR on the season last year. Literally not much chance of him being worse than that, and if by some chance he was I think we could find a 2B that can at least put up a positive WAR somewhere.

We really lose nothing by giving him a try. Worst case he flames out and we replace him, best case we have a better walk rate version of Prado.

Hasn't been talked about much but it will. I sure am going to miss McCann in a Braves uniform. One of the best that has ever suited up for the team.

Wish he could have been the next player to have never worn a uniform but the Braves, but business is business.

I'm a braves fan, but before the season started I stated on these boards that I thought the structure of our lineup was absolutely retarded with all the low Batting average, high strikeout guys on the team. I got berated.

We have some talented guys, but i hope our front office thinks about getting a more balanced offense this offseason. I hate to talk bad about any players on our team, but Uggla just simply needs to go. Just miserable. also, I've never been even remotely a BJ Upton fan and while i never supported his signing, we spent so much money on him that we just need to make sure he is an adequate player who doesn't kill us every game.

I think the thing we missed badly last year was the presence of bourn and prado at the top of the lineup. Heyward was solid when healthy but he has no business being a leadoff guy. Uggla needs to be replaced by a Prado-esque batting avg # 2 hitter and we need a guy like bourn at the top of the lineup to leadoff. Maybe Andrelton just needs to step his offensive game up a tad.

So what was wrong with 95 wins? We ran into the best pitcher in baseball twice in the playoffs.
