Sherrill to Seattle. 1 year 1.1 mill. Doesn't seem like that of a deal, I would have taken that

Sooner or later they are gonna strike a deal and Smith is gonna be part of our LF answer, it seems.

Yea seems we want Wheeler with him.

ETA: I wish we would have resigned George at that price.

That would have put us in the playoffs. No Cardinals World Series. In many ways, Fredi changed baseball history.

While true, I'd give a large assist to Chuckles & the Phils for idioting-up, in tempting fate vs the hottest team in MLB at season's close, by sweeping the final set in Atl.

Two straight years a fading team(SD & Atl) leave Philly's weak bats facing MLB's hot-team in the postseason, and both series vs SF & St.L go very deep..not that the Fightins weak lumber would've guaranteed success vs the hard-hitting Rangers in the Series, if advanced.

Will the additions of Papelbon, Thome, Wiggington, Nix, Willis,etc..deliver? Will Polanco, Utley, and Howard, all heal and rebound from late season slides? Etc..

Rising young teams in Braves, Nats, Fish..NL East will be the beast in 2012!

Definitely. It's going to be an interesting division over the next 4 or 5 years.

Agreed.

Also, I was being snarky with the "Fredi changed baseball history" line.

Chuckles says he's making progress, maybe April or May, maybe sooner? Hard to say, being such a big guy and not yet putting his full weight down upon it.

Definitely. Fish with a stadium, Nats with turnstiles turning, need healthy Strasburg and for Harper to come of age, Bravos stacked farm, Phils clubhouse atmosphere, continuous CBP sellouts and momentum with FA market & allure to players..then there's the Mutts and empty CitiField..Madoff partially to blame.

The D'Backs signed Jason Kubel to play LF and are moving Parra to the fourth outfielder role. He's a gold glover this past year. Think we should make a run?

JJ Hoover/minor league SS for Parra? I'm down for it. He's got decent pop to.

ETA: Parra's 2011 Line

.292 BA, 8 HR, 46 RBI, 141 Games, 15 SB, .357 OBP

Not bad numbers could be a solid get IMO

It's an interesting possibility. Great glove, good bat. If we can see him being our startin CF in 2013-2014, then I can see us making a run for him.

Not the bat #Braves looking to add. RT @Von_Osnabruck: @ajcbraves Any chance G. Parra from Dbacks could be on the radar w/ Kubel signing?

It appears the bat we are looking to add does not exist.

Seriously, DOB has said no to everyone but Carlos Quentin and Carlos Lee.

Maybe he has changed his tune and I didn't see it, but about a month ago when asked, he said someone from the Braves organization told him that we weren't interested in him either

You never really know with the Braves.

Frank Wren has been aggressive since he took the job.

I just don't understand why we haven't made any major moves.... besides trading D Lowe.

I'm worried they think the team is "good enough" as currently comprised.

Guess we just haven't found a trade we're comfortable with yet. We don't have a starting spot open right now so it's not like we need to get out there and make a move just to make it. Wait, see if the right deal opens up, and then make it.

I am surprised we haven't signed a backup INF yet, though.

Send DOB any kind of trade idea and his answer will be no.

(Unless the trade involves his boy Carlos Lee)

DOB is like an extension of the Braves PR office.
