word is, #yankees entered only a modest bid for darvish. not likely to get. indications are winning bid is sky-high

Surprise? Yes. Shock? No. “@ErikaKGibson: @Kevin_Goldstein Cubs' source reportedly wouldn't be surprised if they won. surprise you?”

Tomorrow morning supposedly.

One things for sure, we are going to have one shitty defensive infield next year.
Which is really concerning when your ace is a groundball-centric guy. And if you are counting on Jurrjens to be in the rotation again.
But at least Hanson and Beachy aren't as groundball reliant.

From the sound of it, looks like the Blue Jays won the bid on Yu Darvish.

Rangers and Blue Jays we're going hard after him and the Blue Jays squeaked it out. It's going to be a big number.
From the looks of it, MLB isn't expected to make the announcement until the 20th but no way it lasts until that long for it to get out.
All of this is from various reports throughout the internet. No verification.

Sounds about right. Honestly surprised it's not up there past 60.

My exact thoughts when thinking about a potential mediocre defensive infield next year. Not good.

We're going to end up just signing Ronny Cedeno and Luke Scott and calling it an offseason

It's one of those things where you can only miss them for so long before you can eventually get them off your mind. But thanks Okie for reminding me of the glory days

I just still don't fricking understand why he can't buy the team back.

I'm still holding out hope that the rumors about the team being sold this offseason are true. It might not get a lot better, but it sure couldn't get much worse. There is no reason for our payroll to be less than $105 million.

Exactly. I mean I'm not asking for the Yanks or Phils payrolls, I just want a respectable payroll so we can actually make key free agent acquisitions. I mean, my God, how good could we be if we could just increase 20 mil right now? Sucks.

He can even manage the team again

It would be an upgrade.
