We signed Aaron Russell to a minor league deal with a camp invite. He had a 3.03 ERA in 36 appearances with the Rays last year. He will spend time in the bigs next year, most likely.

Adam Russell, and he was incredibly lucky in his 36 appearances last year. Had a 1.56 WHIP, with a 3.6 K/9 with a 5.5 BB/9.

Peter Gammons tweeting this morning about how we drafted Urban Meyer.

Also, we drafted Randy Johnson but passed on signing him.

I like the idea of bringing in Durango. Could be a good guy to call-up for spot duty. He's got decent speed and a good glove from what I've seen of him. His bat is atrocious though.

Huddy had back surgery today. He hurt it in May, but it has gotten worse since the offseason workouts started. He should be ready for ST, but DOB says the Braves are now unlikely to trade JJ.

Hudson will be fine

frick.

I hear #Braves have joined a bevy of teams that's at least kicked the tires of Cuban OF Yoennis Cespedes, who's working out in D.R.

They could, but I'd be surprised if they got into bidding war. RT @mpass1: @ajcbraves Would #Braves have the money to afford Cespedes?

Doubt anything comes of it.

Glad to see he's finally starting to eat it on Beachy a little after saying he was a nobody last year.

But why Kimbrel so low?

Reds are the frontrunner for Jurrjens according to Heyman.

Jair Jurrjens and Martin Prado continue to be "as sought after as any players" on the trade market. Atlanta has received calls from 8-10 teams on Jurrjens and "half the teams in baseball" on Prado. Most see Prado as a second base upgrade. The Braves continue to say they don't need to move either player.

From Danny Knobler of CBS

This is great news. All you need is one of those bundle of teams to feel the need to overpay.
