Seth Smith wouldn't be a bad pickup IMO
I disagree.

Yeah, Seth Smith wouldn't make much sense. The last thing we need is another lefty to add to the lineup

Why?
Sure he's more of a platoon split guy, but he can hit.

Braves re-sign Jose Lugo
I read this as Julio Lugo at first and I thought, WTF?

I forgot Smith was a lefty. My bad.
He'd be a good fit to play left we got a legit right handed bat as well. I don't want to see him platooning with Matty Diaz.

A Diaz/Smith platoon would be awesome IMO. If used correctly, of course.

Ya think? I just don't see Diaz being that role anymore. Maybe a late inning pinch hitter who occasionally starts but that's about it IMO

FUFCK you just reminded me that we still have Matt Diaz next year.

He still hit .295 against lefties last year.
Smith destroys righties.
Obviously I'd rather just have one great player out there, but they would be pretty solid IMO... if Fredi used them right.
Also, looks like the Phils aren't going ot bite on Jimmy's big pricetag. Wonder where he'll go?

What's he asking for? Wasn't it 3 or 4 years minimum?
Posted on 11/10/11 at 3:13 pm to BallHawk
Because Braves Baseball is more important

5 years
As for Smith/Diaz combo, it could work, but we need that one stable offensive force that we know will be solid out there for the next few years.

You are smarter than that Dan.

According to MLBTR the Phils balked as his 4 years/13mm a year offer.

Yet they are willing to give a reliever 4 years at 11 mill.

I'd take Jimmy on a two year deal. He'd be a good fit the #2 spot in the order between Bourn and Chipper
On a side note interesting article written by David O'Brien in the AJC

Personally I'd love to have Mark Cuban as owner.
