In theory, yes. But you don't trade Prado if the trade means you'll have to rely on Fredi's logic 162 times a year.

Fredi showed last year he has no grasp on how to properly take advantage of matchups. Planning for a year long platoon would end in disaster. Fredi would inevitably end up playing the "the hot hand" regardless of splits.

As far as a Prado/Young swap, just no.

The Colorado Rockies have a hole to fill at second base now that free agent Mark Ellis is headed to the Los Angeles Dodgers. One possible replacement could be the Braves' Martin Prado.

Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports that the Rockies and Braves recently had talks that that were merely in the "fact-finding stage." Those talks are expected to restart at the GM meetings in Milwaukee.

The Braves are in the market for outfield help and would reportedly prefer to deal Prado rather than use him in left field. As Renck points out, the Rockies have the outfield depth to make a deal happen. Seth Smith could fit in a platoon for the Braves, and there also is Charlie Blackmon, a former star at Georgia Tech.

Prado could also be an option at third base, another area of concern in Colorado.[quote]
