Giants starter Jonathan Sanchez could go to the Mets as part of a Beltran trade, tweets Sherman.
FML
he is a FA at the end of the year (Sanchez) so he'd cost a good bit of dough, but we're going to really miss that left-handed arm in the rotation. plus that means seeing Zito the rest of the year.

ha, slant it if you want. i specified san francisco giants:
they moved to san fran in '58. the franchise won it's last title in 1954. it was the first and only title in san fran, last year.
and how many titles have the Braves won since 58?
exactly.
quote:
they've won the pennant 4 times in san fran.
won the div. 7 times.
compared to how many more the Braves have won (16 div. and 7 pennants) in Atlanta during that time span, and they have the same amount of WS titles to show for it. just saying.
quote:
regardless, the history argument is stupid. if last year's champion equaled this year's champion, there would be a lot more repeats.
every team is different. san fran has the better singular pitcher, atlanta has the better overall staff. xFIP and SIERA would back me on that.
lower team ERA. /discussion
quote:
lineup wise, san fran's best hitter has a .357 wOBA. their next best offensive players are schierhotlz and cody ross... with wOBAs in the .330s.
atlanta's best hitter has a .381 wOBA. next best statistically is Freeman, with a .362, then Chipper is in the .330s. this with struggling heyward/uggla, who, even while horrible versions of themselves, are still about on par with giants second best offensive contributors...
oh yeah I know.. Giants score a lot fewer runs that the Braves. and yet take a look at the records.
quote:
but hey, don't let facts stand in the way of the idea that the giants won it last year, so obviously they are the favorites!
i'm not the one who said that.

He was out. Lugo acted like he was out. Whatevs.
You can see his pants leg ripple down after the tag. Although it could just be wind from the whiff. That seems unlikely, though.

i'm so glad you did that.
okay, you can use the worse/more incomplete stat to decide who is better, i'll use the ones that are more in-depth and thorough!

and yet, take a look at the schedules! if the braves got to chill and play the rockies (who we took 6 of 8 from, the dodgers, and padres, we'd probably be hanging around with the best record in baseball right now. but yeah, your record shows how much better you are than us, even if our innerdivisional rival is arse-smacking you around right now, and we're undefeated against you on the season.
braves > giants

rosenthal tweeted about 20 minutes ago that the braves are still on beltran.

No he's not
Next year is his last arbitration year. He will be a FA after 2012.

It looks like Carlos Beltran is indeed going to the Giants, tweets Yahoo's Tim Brown, with logistics being worked out. Specifically, Brown's source says that there's "good likelihood" of Beltran going to the Giants. Just minor details remain, tweets SI's Jon Heyman.
A key development may have been the Giants' willingness to include center field prospect Gary Brown, tweets Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports.

Heyman said earlier whichever of the Giants/Braves don't get Beltran, the other would likely get Upton. If we accomplish that without trading any of the Core 4, then I'm happy with that.

giants fan are wiggin out about giving up brown for beltran.. i have no idea who he even is.. but they sound like they are over-paying?

Pretty legit CF prospect. 5 tool player pretty much. He has decent power and plus speed.

oh okay thanks. thought he was a FA after this year.
just read this:
quote:
Sanchez is making $4.8 million this season and remains under team control through 2012. Under this scenario, the Mets could potentially keep the southpaw or flip him in another deal.

wow tonight's lineup is going to be nasty. literally nasty..

second best offensive prospect behind Belt. has 39 steals through 95 games at A+ this year. good defense and OBP as well. little bit of pop as well. i like him a lot.

Not really a fan of Upton, but a change of scenery might do him some good.
