braves history in playoffs not that stellar...
I don't see why any logical person would care what previous teams did in the playoffs.
Also, the Giants just won their first WS since coming to San Fran... it'd been 50+ years....

Ya but still lot of parts from a team that just proved last year they could win it all

But the Braves/Giants are basically mirror images of one another... lackluster offense... strong pitching... why would he prefer the Giants to the Braves? I don't get that. I guess just because they won the WS last year.
he's stated that he really wants to play RF. I mean i guess you could move Prado to center and have Heyward in left, Beltran in right?

as a Giants fan I personally would rather pass on Beltran (whom is a FA after this year) and spend the money on Marlon Byrd this year and next and not give up a top pitching prospect. Byrd would fit perfectly in AT&T Park's RF.

They limped past the Braves, who were missing several key pieces. Hell, if not for a Brooks Conrad error or 6, Braves win that series.
To me, the teams are just about even, I don't see one being better than the other.

They don't want to move Prado to CF mid-season. Beltran would probably have to do it

woah now, you don't want to get into this discussion. the Braves have the same number of WS titles in that time span. plus the Giants didn't win 15 or however many straight division titles.

If I'm wanting to go to a team to win tho. It's really hard to not go to defending champs. And the braves always have injuries
I think any non brave homer would choose sf

agreed. i'd put the Giants pitching staff ahead of ATL and the Braves lineup ahead of SF.

plus you'd get to play in front of a sold-out crowd every home game

so what you are saying is that the giants have been less successful than the braves? thanks.

no, just pointing out your snide remark about the Giants winning their first WS title in 50+ years was misguided if you're using that as a measuring stick against the Braves.
fwiw:
Braves
Division titles: 16 (+ 1 wild card)
NL pennants: 17
World Series titles: 3
Giants
Division titles: 7 (+ 1 wild card)
NL pennants: 21
World Series titles: 6

ha, slant it if you want. i specified san francisco giants:
they moved to san fran in '58. the franchise won it's last title in 1954. it was the first and only title in san fran, last year.
they've won the pennant 4 times in san fran.
won the div. 7 times.
regardless, the history argument is stupid. if last year's champion equaled this year's champion, there would be a lot more repeats.
every team is different. san fran has the better singular pitcher, atlanta has the better overall staff. xFIP and SIERA would back me on that.
lineup wise, san fran's best hitter has a .357 wOBA. their next best offensive players are schierhotlz and cody ross... with wOBAs in the .330s.
atlanta's best hitter has a .381 wOBA. next best statistically is Freeman, with a .362, then Chipper is in the .330s. this with struggling heyward/uggla, who, even while horrible versions of themselves, are still about on par with giants second best offensive contributors...
but hey, don't let facts stand in the way of the idea that the giants won it last year, so obviously they are the favorites!

San Fransicso >>>>>>>> Atlanta
Can play RF
Won't be in same division as Phillie's rotation anymore
etc...
The more I think abou it, the more I kinda like Byrd. Still would rather have Beltran, but Byrd could make this team better, too.

I would like nothing more for the braves to win the next 2, force Pitt into a deep depression where they go on some terrible slide to end the year. They will then refer to this game as the game that changed there season.
I have two friends who have straight come out of the woodworks as Pitt fans and it is driving me crazy.

Beltran is not going to the Rangers, tweets Rosenthal. The Giants are his presumed frontrunner. Giants starter Jonathan Sanchez could go to the Mets as part of a Beltran trade, tweets Sherman.

None of those are why. It is because San Fran can re-sign him in the offseason and Atlanta can't. Boras is controlling these talks according to Indians sources who tried to get in on him.
Also, Rangers have offered the best package and are now out according to Rosenthal.

Bring on Pence for the next 2.5 seasons. Much better than Beltran for a half season.

well that's a pretty dickhead thing to wish for. Braves won the game and you're still going all tard.
