Jesus, yall act like playing 1B is a fricking impossible task unless you've practiced it for 10 years and took a super secret oath of first basemen.

He'll be fine. He's a pro ball player, he knows how to catch, and I'm sure he knows how to scoop up a ground ball for fricks sake. Will it be gold glove caliber or pretty? no. But it will be adequate. Hell, 1b is the position that washed up players, former catchers, and fat former Outfielders play.

Kinda my thought too.

I don't really have an issue sticking him in one of the two easiest places to play on the field.

Though, I hope the NL gets a DH soon, because that's where his real value comes from.

Pretty sure all of those guys fielded ground balls before they took a start at first for a major league team.

I like it better than creating a fake position so that one dimensional players can play in the MLB.

pitcher is a position player so he should have to hit. not some scrub on the bench.

pitchers aren't always automatic outs (Tim Hudson is a prime example) and I like seeing a pitcher help himself out by knocking in some runs.

Kershaw on opening day is the reason why the DH sucks.

I think saying the DH sucks because of maybe 10 cool at bats by pitchers in a season is dumb.

I'd rather watch a guy that works on hitting actually hit.

Plus, less buntz. Buntz are bad and stupid and pointless.

Decisions like having to weigh keeping your pitcher in versus pulling him for a PH in a tight game, double switches, sacrifice bunting, pitching around hitters, etc are interesting and good for the game. Strategy and hard decisions in the AL are almost non-existent.

I dunno about that.

We can agree to disagree on some of these.

But I'm not sure their value of good added to a game outweighs the bad added in watching Julio Teheran needleesly stand at the plate, like he will tonight.
