This is going to sound crazy, but I was watching video a couple of weeks ago on YouTube of Uggla and noticed back in his Marlins days (when he obviously had much better numbers), he was finishing with his bat very high after swinging almost like a helicopter (similar to how McGriff used to finish his swing). He hasn't been doing it this year until very recently and he's all of a sudden making solid contact.

Uggla had the helicopter finish during the 2nd half in 2011 when he was absolutely raking.
Sometimes he does it on strikeouts, but the swings he's been putting on the ball recently are the best in a year+.
