Tommy isn't in 4-6 years? Seems like next year is his 4th
Now is when it gets more detailed
Guys like Tommy who don't get called up until June, basically have 7 years under team control instead of 6

Ok so instead of 4-6 it's 5-7?

2012 off season is going to be expensive

this is what I need to read up more on
In some cases, I've seen players get paid the shitty salary(500Kish) for 4 years, then the last 3 years will be the arbitration years
In other cases, players can have 4 arbitration years instead of 3
It can get confusing
All I care about is us having control of Tommy Hanson for 4 more years after this one

Yeah, I guessed on a few salaries... and it's looking like about 10 mil under what we have right now... and that's with no SS and Schafer as our starting CF.

I hope we can keep Kimbrel, Venters, AND EO'F but I doubt we will

I want the first two, but EO'F I don't really care.

Obviously he's the 3rd on that list but he's been damn good man

He's a good pitcher, yeah.
Could also be a trade chip, seeing as he's a LHP... and he's already into arbitration, so costs more than the other two.
He'll probably make around 2 mil next year, which is comparatively cheap, but I don't want to start paying this guy 5 mil to be a solid middle reliever.
eta: I'm all about cheap arms in the pen.

Agreed. Relief pitchers have the uncanny ability to fall off the face of the earth very suddenly for no apparent reason. No sense in getting invested heavily in them.
Kimbrel and Venters I can see getting paid a ton of money down the road though, and I wouldn't have a huge problem with it.

I wonder if there's any one who can (semi) accurately guess aribtration salaries.
Jair Jurrjens rhp $5.5M
Peter Moylan rhp 4.061 Non-tender
Eric O’Flaherty lhp 3.062 $2.5M
Martin Prado 2b 3.105 $4.5 M
These are pretty good estimates I'd say. Jurrjens is the most flexible, as his 2nd half could get him up to $6M if he continues to pitch very well. I'd expect Moylan to be non-tendered for sure and there is also a solid chance Prado will be extended.

Exactly. See Linebrink, Scott.
In Linebrink's defense, he has rebounded nicely after a horrid start here.
