Can someone explain to me why Freddi would have Alex Wood come up to hit and then take him out of the game the next inning?

So that we don't burn a pinch hitter in the 3rd inning. You assume the pitcher can lay down a bunt. It makes sense.

If that is the case could we not bring in say Hudson or another SP who can bunt to do that?

I think he made the right call, if he's gonna bunt there don't waste a pinch hitter. Although, I don't think he thought Wood would try to bunt pitches 3 feet off the plate

Not sure how it really matters what inning you pinch hit someone. Runner on first with one out is a good time to pinch hit a hitter, unless you are tied to the sac bunt no matter what like Fredi.

He may have played it differently if not for the long game last night and double header today.

Hey Joe why don't you jinx the no hitter? Or do you only do that when we're throwing one?
