BTW, w/the Jansen signing the payroll is at $207M. And they are only 23 MIL under the luxury tax threshold.

So all this talk that Liberty/Braves are cheap needs to be put to bed.

Yeah I got that one wrong. I admitted it a couple of posts up.

Good on Smith for letting Jansen be the primary closer and getting him in here. Just WOW!

And AA is petty AF and I love it.

SOURCE: The talks are turning around the number of years of the agreement. Soler is looking for a contract in a range of 3-5 years.

The first luxury tax threshold is $230 million. After signing Kenley Jansen, the Braves’luxury tax payroll now stands at $207.4 million.

You know if you would stop worrying so much about being right and going back and forth over trivial nonsense with fellow Barves posters, you wouldn’t catch half the shite you do imo

None of us are insiders about any of this stuff (except lsu31always’s uncle), so it’s pretty silly to speak so definitively on these things and then get hyper combative when someone dares to respond

I think we know our OF/DH will be some mix of Acuña, Duvall, Ozuna, and Rosario.(once Acuña returns)

Who plays LF, CF, RF, and DH respectively? Acuña is probably the most proficient CF among the group but I would much rather have him in RF to save him from the wear and tear.

Yeah I want him in RF. Like you said to save him from the wear and tear and it's also his natural position.

AA came out a couple days ago and said that Acuna will come back in late April as the primary DH until he's ready to play in the field again. Probably mid-late May.

But once he is back in the field my OF would go Rosario, Duvall, and Acuna L to R and Ozuna DH'ing.

Matt Olson still Parkview proud

You'll have to read it in Incognito in order to read it all.

With the 1000th post on this thread let me just say Freddie is a bitch. His new contract proves that. I'm booing the fricker the first chance I get.

I'm watching his intro conference now and he's so full of shite. He's talking about his family, he didn't just decide after the trade that he wanted to be around family. You combine this with the Chipper interview and it's clear his priority wasn't to come back. He acts like he was blindsided by the trade, the trade rumors were out there for weeks, he was talking with the Dodgers before the lockout. The money is less overall with taxes. If he wanted to be a Brave, all he had to do was accept the offer and the trade doesn't happen.

I think Acuna is done playing CF, especially after this injury. Duvall was fine out there.

If we don't make anymore signings, we'll likely open up with Rosario in LF, Heredia in CF and Duvall in RF with Ozuna DHing.

When Ronald is healthy, he'll come in at RF, moving Duvall to CF and Heredia to the bench.

However, AA said they are going to ease Acuna back in as a DH, which could mean we'll have to suffer for a few games with Ozuna in LF if he is hitting like he was during winter ball.

People using Matt Olson’s 8-year contract as a defense of Liberty Media in the Freddie Freeman negotiations should compare the relative AAVs of the two players. This isn’t an anti-Olson statement. It’s about the numbers

Schultz is such a woke, fricking hack w/an axe to grind. He also wants the chop outlawed. frick. That. bald bitch.

Liberty ain't an issue anymore.

Maybe I just missed it in the thread...but apparently the $57 in deferred money is completely voided if the Dodgers trade Freeman? Holy shite either he really wanted out or his agent royally screwed him.

Freeman will have $7 million deferred from his $27-million base salary for each of the first three years, then $12 million deferred in each of the final three years of the deal, which runs through 2027. If Freeman is traded, his new team would not be able to defer any of the money he is still owed.

LA Times

I read it as the new team would still owe him the money, but would have to pay in the year earned instead of getting to defer payment.

Freeman would essentially earn “more”money through this contract if he gets traded
