His offense hasn't been the issue. It's his defense that has needed to improve. If he is even league average defensively, then we'll be fine.

And for all we know, the FO may view Contreras as the better player.

If catcher is our "weak link" position, I think we will be fine. TdA is a top 10 catcher in the league and could even be considered top 5. It does suck to lose Shea, but that tells me the front office believes in Contreras as the future. Let AA work

Plus, my 10 year old is a catcher. He'll be ready for the bigs in about 8 years. We're good.

I'm disappointed he's not related to former Braves catcher Greg.

Jeff Passan @JeffPassan Not only does Atlanta have a new 1B in Matt Olson, it’s going to have him for a long, long time. Olson and the Braves have agreed on an eight-year, $168 million contract extension, sources tell ESPN. Atlanta locks up the hometown kid two years before he was due to hit the market.

That's $21 MIL/yr.

Club option for a 9th year.

Sweet! Welcome back home, Matt.

Seriously.

Dude is a savage.

So what about the narrative that Liberty is cheap? Yeah that needs to DIAF.

Just heard a clip on 680 of Dansby from yesterday talking about people wanting to compare Freddie and Olsen and that you can't do that b/c they are different players and people.

The dude oozes leadership. He will fill that void that Freddie left behind.

In talking about who will fill that void he's on the top of all lists, I'm sure.

Although in time Olsen seems a likely candidate too.
