Fans will blame AA, but the truth is if Freddie wanted to be a Brave for the rest of his career, he would be or will be. What he can’t do is hold the franchise hostage while he works out his feelings.

This is all good and fine if Freddie didn't want to get this done before last year and the F.O. didn't approach him at all about it. Don't act like because he was struggling with a decision for the past 5 days that hes been holding anyone hostage.

Fair enough. But I don't care. I just mentioned the DV's when I said trust AA b/c you would think that he would have that trust of the fanbase by now. It had nothing to do w/me or what I felt.

There are plenty of other posters on here much worse and much better than me. I'm just a guy in the middle. If I have a flaw it's probably that I can come off as arrogant and flaky. And I get it. But like I said above, this is a message board, not a boardroom

Yeah I see where you're going but AA also has a job to do and he can't allow someone's indecision to prevent him from doing his job.

I think they should tell him because he has been the face of the franchise since Chipper left, because he has been on your team since 2010 and was the one who they built around after selling off all of the other talent in the rebuild, and lastly it is because that is the right thing to do to another man who has given you all he had while working for you since drafting him in 2007. You look him in the eye and tell him thank you for all you have done for us. It may be old fashioned, but it is the right way to do business.

He said AA came to the decision last night that he had to move forward w/the Olsen deal b/c he couldn't afford to keep waiting on Freddie and risk losing the Olsen deal.

So where did I suggest they deal in sentimentality?

So you let him find out via twitter? At the very minimum call the man and tell him. Maybe he did, I don't know and probably never will.

Like I said, GM's can't deal in sentimentality.

Olson brings a TON of upside and financial flexibility at only 27 with years on that contract. He replicates Freddie's defense and was a 40 HR guy in that massive stadium in Oakland. With the short porch in right, he could be a monster in Atlanta

Sorry. Had to make sure I caught up w/everybody. I'm not a big fan of leaving people hanging if they are in conversation w/me or asking me a question.

But thanks board Nazi.

I don't think many on here understand how good Olson is because he plays out in Oakland and not many people get to watch him. He's really freaking good. And young. This is a great deal by the Braves.

Video on Twitter of AA fighting back tears talking about the trade. Not really sure that Freddie leaving will be on AA.

Edit: it's on Maria Martins Twitter from 11alive

Ok, business is business then. Let's talk business. AA dumped four top prospects, including a really good catcher, for a two year rental for Olson. That is what you have today, period. Any speculation on a long term deal is just that, speculation.

Olson has a career .252 batting average, hitting a career high of .271 last year. He hit .195 in 2020. He is not the offensive juggernaut some are making him out to be. We will see on Olson, but either Freeman or Vlad Jr. are the best two 1B's in the league. AA just let one of the best walk. Time will tell if it works out or not.

I have absolutely no doubt you honestly think posters ITT are on the edge of their seats awaiting your response about any of this

And there's this:
quote:

Since 2017, Matt Olson has averaged 5.1 WAR per 650 plate appearances, while Freddie Freeman has averaged 4.9 WAR per 650 PA over the same period. Olson has more defensive runs saved since 2017, and has hit 142 HR to Freeman's 133 HR. twitter.com/JeffPassan/sta…

You're too hung up on batting average. It's almost an archaic stat.

Olsen was ranked as the 6th best overall offensive player in baseball last year. Those are facts. He has actually been a better offensive player than Freddie the last 2 years
