Let's consider the following:
- Got huge haul from Padres for Upton/Kimbrel and they are about to lose Upton.
- Got huge haul from Cards who are about to lose JHey
- Got huge haul from Dbacks in a trade rape
- Got nice haul from Dodgers in a trade we almost for sure will win if either of Olivera/Bird pan out (could lose if Wood makes a massive jump forward)
- Got a nice haul from 'Stros for Gattis who was destined to be a DH and had little value for our NL team
- Cashed in big time on Simba's defensive to get a top 20 arm from Angels who will be destroying NL lineups on the reg at the top of rotation alongside Miller very soon.
WHERE THE frick DO I SIGN???

DOB tweeted that Coppy said in 2 hours he's gotten calls from 3 teams about Aybar.

Then he postured and said that he likes Aybar as a contributor for the team.

Plus $2.5 mill and hopefully more prospects for Aybar.

The Markakis signing and Olivera trade were the only moves I can really see anyone having a justifiable complaint about.

Think this makes the Olivera deal look worse honestly.

They are melting worse than us. I truly believe this was a good trade for us, but man i'm gonna miss watching Andrelton play defense.

Coopy on the deal
“It’s a very tough trade for us, a painful trade. We did not want to trade Andrelton Simmons, but we felt we got so much talent back that we could not pass up this deal. I am not afraid (of the reaction). Look, fans won’t like this trade because they all love Simmons. I love Simmons too, he’s fun to watch play. But we need more talent, and this trade helps us do that.”
Also, Coppy said he won't put any pressure on Albies to be up by '17, but said could be up as soon as during '16, ala Furcal from A-ball

Yeah, doesn't really fit with this move.

Here's the thing on Olivera: he's a very "young" 30 year old. Let's see how it pans out.
I will agree though that his acquisition is counterintuitive to what we've done otherwise.
Still have hope for him though. And I'm biased after having seen him play several times in OKC this last summer. Dude can absolutely obliterate a baseball.

Another thing to look at is that next year's starting pitching free market is pretty barren. So look for the Braves to take advantage of that and trade some of our depth for some bats. It's all about finding the market inefficiency and exploiting it. This year, they took advantage of a weak SS class trading Simba and posssibly Aybar.

According to MLB Pipeline, Chris Ellis slots in at #8 on our prospect list.
Fangraphs lists Ellis as an FV 45, which would put him somewhere around 9-13ish based on their list last year.

Haha, yea, that's why I posted the Fangraphs numbers too.
I'd like to think he's that good because he graduated from my high school, but we'll see.

Braves have roughly $30M left to spend this offseason depending on what they do with Aybar (~$33M if they flip him, ~$27M if they keep him).

I don't really see us spending anything at this point, right?
Or do we start beginning the process of rebuilding the bullpen this year?

Yep, that is the one move (along with Markakis) that has made zero sense from the start really. And it makes even less sense given us trading Simba. It'd be pretty nice to have Peraza to play at 2B now since Albies is going to be our SS of the future.
I like this move today decently enough, but I would have liked it a hell of a lot more if we hadn't moved Peraza in the Olivera trade.

We have a hand shake agreement with Kevin Maitan and 4 others in the top ten for July 2nd.
What 4 others are you talking about 31? I'd read we were looking good with the top catcher prospect who's name escapes me atm, but what other 3?
