He just now joined Mickelson's step on the ladder

Honestly, it’s a pretty damn good career given he was carrying the weight of being the “next” one after Tiger. Glad he’s shed that burden and is playing like he is.

There's really no better celebration tradition in sports than winning the Masters these days

What makes you despise Rory as much as you do? Yeah it would have been awesome to see Scottie claw his way back, but there is no denying now, that Rory is one of the best ever. Certainly of his generation. I think the fact his career started off as well as it did, he faltered on the big stage for nearly a decade, then won back to back Masters, is incredibly impressive. Rory could now get to 8-10 before he hangs it up. He’ll go down as an all-timer.

The question begs, who finishes with a better career, Rory, or Scottie? A year ago, I would have said Scottie, but Rory going back to back at the Masters (potentially) and completing the grand slam, getting his total to 6, makes it a difficult question to answer.

Scottie is a bit younger and has plenty of time to surpass Rory. I think better question is one that was discussed before his win in last years Masters. Rory vs Phil. He’s now matched Phil’s major total, has the career grand slam (Phil does not) and is now is just 15 Tour wins shy of Phil’s career total

Obviously he’s better than anyone else right now.

Ehh Scottie and Rory are still tied in majors the last 2 years and Scottie is winning a ton more on tour

None of this will matter though when Scottie becomes the first player under 30 since Tiger to complete the grand slam in June

He's at 6 now, which ties him with Phil.

Palmer and Snead are next at 7, then Watson with 8 and Player and Ben Hogan at 9. If he gets to 8 in the next two years, which would put him at 39 years old, then we can definitely start the discussion of at least top-5 ever.

McIlroy is in prestigious company already with the back to back Master’s championships.

Well, true GOAT discussion, he’ll never surpass Tiger, and Jack. If Rory retires anywhere between
8-10, which I think he will, he could be on the Mt. Rushmore. If he gets to 9 Majors, he’s tied for Top 4. If he gets to 10, he’ll be only the 4th to ever reach double digits.

Rory's birdie on 12 was the biggest shot of the day for him. He grabbed the lead with that and never let go. Wasn't it the closest shot to the pin all day? A historical hole with trouble lurking and he made birdie.

I think it's admirable as hell how Rory has fought back.

It's a bit of different circumstances, but his Masters win last year was 11 years after his previous major title, same as Tiger's in 2019. That's an impressive feat, no matter where you are in age. A special type of mental fortitude to reach the mountain top, fall down, and work your way back to it.

He's the GOAT European golfer, that much is settled.

Rory's roar after winning back to back Masters championships will be on a Rolex commercial within 3 months, or maybe a Nike one if they decide to flex their legal muscle...
