Matt Fitzpatrick might be a sneaky Euro this weekend. He's won a US Open in the Northeast and he's playing the best of all the Euros currently.
He’s had a nice European run late this summer and played well at Wyndham, which is not at all like Bethpage.
But his statistical profile does not really fit Bethpage and he’s 1-7-0 in Ryder cup matches. I wouldn’t count on him.

Fitzpatrick won the US Open at the Country Club which is in Boston.

Brookline and Bethpage Black are not the same type of golf course

Bethpage is a bombers course which Fitz is not

Holy shite, stop being an idiot

He was Top-10 in the world in Driving SG in 2022 when he won the US Open. That's why he was actually playing well. He's back to that form heading into this event. At least don't make wrong blanket statements that are easily fact checked

I agree with Mingo. Fitz has played decent at a few Euro events to end the season, but that is about the only thing to argue for him having a good week. He may have a good weekend on Long Island in the fall of 2025, but it won't be because he won a major in Boston in the summer of 2022.

I dont care about SG
I care about distance
He is currently 90th on Tour, below average

Fitzpatrick’s drivning, particularly distance was an extreme outlier. You’re right, that is why he won at Brookline, but you’re dead wrong about him still driving it like that and hasn’t more 3 years.
But sure, I’m one making blanket statement that are easily fact checked

I'll be interested to see how much each side uses their bottom guys. It seems like both teams are very top heavy with form. If you were just looking at current play, I may only put Morikawa, JT, Straka, Lowry, and maybe even Schauffele for 1 team match.

He’s not driving the ball anything like he was 3 years ago though

You're looking at stats that are irrelevant because they're some March through May. His driving numbers are back since he's been playing through the FedEx Cup
Posted on 9/23/25 at 3:38 pm to RB10
That's because he had extra weight in his clubs he had forgotten to take out

You know he figured this out a year and a half ago, right?

You’re dismissing 3 years worth of data to point out 6 months 3 years ago
Here’s his driving stats from his last 18 events. He’s driving it extremely average overall and below average events with the best players like majors and signature events.

I mentioned nothing about driving distance until this idiot brought it up. I guess Henley and MacIntyre should just not play this weekend right

Of the Ryder Cup players in the last 3 months, he's 14th in SG OTT Distance and 16th in SG OTT total. So, he hasn't been very long or accurate, compared to the other competitors.
Looking at these numbers, the real worry is JT. His distance isn't great, but he has the accuracy of a 25 handicap.

This is exactly what you said:

It’s partially true his form has been better the last 4 or 5 months (against weaker fields and in Europe) but that form is in no way shape or form for the same reason as why he won the US Open. I just put the numbers right in front of you and you continue to be an idiot

Henley's distance is a huge concern, but he's also accurate as hell. He is by far the most accurate driver in the competition, and that will work well in foursomes, most likely with Scottie.
