You keep harping on how much money players make now, and yes, I will give Tiger credit for that.
But that doesn’t mean golf needed “saving” in 1997. Golf was moving along just fine with Ernie Els, Phil Michelson, Payne Stewart, David Duval, etc.
Tiger made it more popular, but he didn’t “save” anything.

But he created a new style of play. He also created a new thinking of how to play that Tiger copied.
You take Tiger and use the equipment of Persimmon I’m not sure he gets the same results now.
You take Jack in his prime and put him in the equipment he’s blasting same type drives.
Now the question comes to do you value consistency in big events do you value blitzing people. Tiger or Jack if had one round at their prime in same equipment and same conditions I take Jack.

That’s fair. I mean I think we can both agree they absolutley were/are incredible and probably the best 2 to ever do it. It’s probably just one of those 50/50 opinion things you could go either way on. In all honestly I am a younger guy, so I do have bias towards him. I am hoping to see him pull it out tomorrow.

Arnold paved the way for these guys to have brands(if they wanted) and monetize their personality and game.
Jack just came through and was the best to ever play. The game would have still been cool to those who cared without him.
Tiger made golf cool in damn near every country on earth...

Jack wasn’t liked initially just like some didn’t like Tiger. Again go learn the history
You can probably credit Palmer with saving golf more than anyone. He definitely saved the British Open. But Jack was liked by players not the public initially because of Palmer.

Tiger took down the entire game. And inspired kids from every single corner of earth to play and be great.
The field today isn’t even comparable to the shite Jack was competing against.
Tiger is now having to compete with a monster that he created. And he’s doing quite well.
