He caught the ball. He possessed the ball(tuck). He made a football move with the ball(reach). The ball crossed the goaline with possession. When the ball touches the plain, its a touchdown, play is over.

Its the same bullshite call that was made against Calvin Johnson and Dez Bryant. fricking stupid.

Not necessarily

Per Mike Pereira:
"Look, here is the rule. If you’re going to the ground you have to hold onto the ball when the ball hits the ground…Going to the ground trumps lunging/reaching to try and get extra yards or score a TD. You do that at your own risk. It’s incomplete…just ask Dez"

If that has any other place on the field it would have been a fumble at the most

The way the nfl calls it is correct according to the rule but it’s a bad rule.

It’s like a 40 mph speed limit on a freeway, it would be a bad limit and if a cop pulled you over for speeding you couldn’t say well it’s a bad law so I shouldn’t have to follow it, but it should be changed

Had he been a halfback running the identical entry to the end zone, TD.

I don't get why there is a difference.

Straight from the horses mouth

ARTICLE 3. COMPLETED OR INTERCEPTED PASS

1) secures control of the ball in his hands or arms prior to the ball touching the ground; and
2) touches the ground inbounds with both feet or with any part of his body other than his hands; and
3) maintains control of the ball after (a) and (b) have been fulfilled, until he has the ball long enough to clearly become a runner. A player has the ball long enough to become a runner when, after his second foot is on the ground, he is capable of avoiding or warding off impending contact of an opponent, tucking the ball away, turning up field, or taking additional steps (see 3-2-7-Item 2).

Note: If a player has control of the ball, a slight movement of the ball will not be considered a loss of possession. He must lose control of the ball in order to rule that there has been a loss of possession.

NFL rule

The man did all three

Didn't do #1. His left hand came completely off the ball. That's not maintaining control.

AFTER he already had both feet, a elbow and a knee inbounds. THEN while down and having not been touch with possession of the ball he crossed the endzone

Does Mike keep changing his mind on the rules?

Every place on the field is a different rule.

We've seen bang-bang dive for pylon tons of times, ruled a TD as the ball is rolling out of bounds.

All that shite doesn't matter. He was going to the ground in the act of catching the ball. Because of that, he has to maintain control of the ball through the entire motion of going to the ground. He did not. Breaking the plane of the end zone only matters for an established ball carrier. He had not yet become one.

He caught the ball a yard and a half from the end zone, both knees down with ball in possession, advance the ball upfield making him a runner, crossed the plain with ball in possession. frick that ref.

His right hand is under the ball. There was no bobble. You cannot show the ball touching the ground. It was a catch.
