Even if you make a wrong call be confident. Jayden and Conner's mom will sniff out weakness!

Umpiring my first high school baseball game this evening....
granted it’s just three short jamboree games, but still!!

Good luck.

Going bases - plate - bases I assume?

Sell your close calls with authority. You are going to miss calls... but sell them with authority.

And on the easy ones... be simple. No need to show up the players. On a simple put-out to 1B, a short pump of the fist is more than enough.

Be aware of where the law enforcement officers are at all times, but don't beckon them until somebody comes over the fence.

When you end up meeting an irate parent at Sonic, pick me up a Blast. Thanks in advance.

Make sure to make it all about you. Hesitate on the call for effect and be really over the top.

What will it take for you to toss a coach?

Baseball seems by far the most enjoyable sport to officiate. Kick back and have a beer while doing it.

Football would be cool and I’ve got some connections if I wanted to get into it but there’s way more crap to deal with.

For me, a coach could say whatever crap they wanted about a call and I would let them get it out and then send them back to the dugout.

The moment they attacked me personally, they usually got run.

"that call bleeping sucks, he was bleeping safe, etc" let it go.

"You bleeping suck", get run
