I realize they've been bad for several years now but the product on the field is a joke. Like "worst team in baseball" bad.

We'll get a chance to determine that this weekend.

nah. We were 2nd worst last year, but really that was because we sold of, likely what we'll do again this year, valuable pieces as a part of rebuilding. And look at the starting pitching, it's hard to say worst team in baseball if you look at that...overall i'd say the cubs have been a bit unlucky and will start to improve

the "worst team in baseball" does NOT have one of the best top 3 starting pitchers in the league right now.

we aren't the worst. we're just playing that way.

I don't think the starters will continue this trend for very long, so all of these quality starts have been blown.

We'll get to "worst team in baseball" status very quickly though

I dont' think that will happen until after the trade deadline. Cubs have been in games, just aren't getting oportune hitting (which is no surprise since we're not really getting inopportune hitting either). i think it's just a matter of time. Your'e right, pitchers will probalb come back to earth but we've got a good staff...how many of them are still there outside of shark and wood after the trade deadline...anyones guess.

Then it will be like last year wehre you could easly have 6-10 more wins on the schedule but at that point a higher draft pick and trade return is more important than a handful of wins.

And it's not like the cubs opened the first month of the season against the dregs of baseball either.

Summary: cubs aren't the worst team in baseball.

Is pitching lights out , no doubt. But in his career he's a .500 pitcher. I don't expect this pace to keep up. I watched part of the game last night and saw the following - Cody Ransom and Dave Sappelt. That's not a team putting a competitive product on the field.
