From Pete Thamel:

quote:

Maalik Murphy told ESPN he’s not going to be with the Longhorns in the College Football Playoff. He would have preferred to stay through the season, but the timing did not allow it. Murphy told ESPN: “It’s nothing against Texas at all. I’m doing this purely for me and my future. In my eyes, I’ll always be a Longhorn and a part of this great team.”

This is stupid. College football is the only sport that has free agency prior to the conclusion of the season.

I don’t hate the new college football, I just don’t care about it.

Oh shite, arch is now the backup if Quinn goes down during a game.

Can you imagine the collective media boner if Texas fricks around and Arch ends up starting in the natty?

Texas caved to the arch manning lovers even though Malik is the better quarterback right now.

Apparently, Texas fans value Arch's ability to throw the ball really hard more than what Murphy could offer.

It's because if he stays after the new year for the playoff he won't be eligible with his new team. We had a guy come from TCU this year and the NCAA denied his eligibility because he was on the sideline with TCU during the playoff

Would the committee remove Texas and put Georgia back in? Lol.

Which is absolutely crazy. The transfer portal should open in January after the bowls have been played.

This is fricking 2009 all over again. Texas is gonna play bama. Quinn is gonna get hurt on the third play of the game. Garrett Gilbert (arch manning) will come in and go 15-40 for 125. 3 picks 1 lost fumble and 2 tds. Texas loses 21-35.

Wow. Knew this was coming at some point. Gee I wonder what could prevent him from playing in the game he has worked his whole life for???! How can the timing not be right??

I thought the guys on teams in the playoff got an extended window to transfer without penalty. I guess not.

I'd wager it's in his eyes and his eyes alone amongst that locker room after this.

I don't know if Arch is better than Maalik but there's a lot of money and influence behind Arch.
