Mustang Bowl way out in Sweetwater, TX
Always wanted to play here when I was on varsity in the 06-08 seasons. They were the same classification as we were, just in a different region.

Catching a pass in the corner of this endzone could hurt

And De La Salle...
likely the best football program in the country the last 30 years plays in a dump of a football stadium in California.

Coppell isn't average either. They are one of the best teams in Texas. They play a brutal schedule every year. Last season they had around 20 college signees

^ Coppell High is not even one of the big boys in their own area.
Follow the money trail to the exurbs and that's where this starts popping up.

Yeah they are and that is a place that invests tons in their program. They have major parental interference because of it that keeps them down a little bit but from a facility, support and talent aspect they are right there with Allen, southlake and trinity

What are the property taxes like to pay for these things?
While its really cool that the stadiums are this nice I would have to wonder if the money could be better spent on something else education wise? Just curious
From an outsider looking in this looks like the Yeti Coolers version of local towns competing with eachother. You are still poor but check out this expensive cooler aka stadium.

A couple of bucks a year. In Texas education the isd's are genius. You don't have to pay for 100 schools like you would in Louisiana. Plus when you build schools like this it drives home values up because lots of people want their children to have that kind of experience

The monthly payment for my $200,000 home loan in Texas was the same as my $280,000 home loan in Louisiana. Interest rate around the same. Difference was the property taxes add were that much more in Texas.

my property taxes are around 8k a year. the district I live in passed a massive bond not long ago and we didn't even notice the difference. It's worth it

ISD are completely free of government interference correct? Other than the State Board of Education? The mayor or whomever can not set any type of limits on the district?

$8000 a year on a normal sized house ain't a couple of bucks and unless Robin Hood laws no longer exist you are paying for 100 schools if you live in a wealthy district.
Don't get me wrong though. The Texas way of doing education is superior to Louisiana. I would happily pay higher property taxes to fund local projects that benefit my family. You get much more for your money than sending money to the bottomless pit in Baton Rouge.

In Gorman case, the Fertita brothers (UFC owners) and Dana White (UFC President) are major donors to the program. Not only football but wrestling as well

No state income tax here though. What I'm saying is we moved here in 09 and two or three years ago an enormous bond passed and I didn't really notice any difference in the tax raise

I used to live in an apartment complex about 500 meters to the right of those buildings on the right.
FWIW, that's the same high school (Stadium HS in Tacoma) where Ten Things I Hate About You was filmed.
It also can stink like shite right around there - that port in the distance is nasty.

Probably the coolest high school stadium because of location...
The value of that real estate would make real estate developers shite a brick. That's got to be one of the most expensive football fields per square foot in America.
