Because it's hot as frick and they forgot to build a roof on it.
And Arlington residents just love paying extra taxes.

It was a Monday game and summer hasn't started yet. Non summer weekday games pretty much never have good attendance. This goes across most of MLB. If your ballpark isn't inside a main downtown area with east access to light rail travel you aren't going to pack the place for your average early season M-Th games.
Dude....this is embarrassing. Especially when the fan base bitches about the heat being the driving force for why attendance sucks. It’s beautiful outside and still nobody goes.

McCaigBro, stop trying to make Texas Rangers happen, it’s not going to happen.
Your Astros wannabe game threads are depressing.
All razzing aside, Throwing the stadium in the middle of DFW where it’s hard for almost everyone to get to traffic/distance-wise makes it a bad choice. It’s one thing if there’s a game every Sunday in the Fall. A whole mother when it’s 162 games in the grueling summer

It was a Monday night game in April out in BFE Arlington. I'm not not sure why you think attendance should be great.

I’m not expecting it to be. It’s embarrassing, sure. But me mentioning the attendance is me siding with the club about requiring people to buy tickets to two other games.

People won't be any more likely to show up to the other games if they get forced to buy weekday games and using a Monday night April game to justify what they are doing it straight dumb b/c attendance is NEVER EVER going to be good for games like that unless it's some sort of holiday or if Arlington suddenly has a massive populations boom into the millions and decides they want that area to be a light rail hub for all of the Metroplex. It's just not going to happen.

I mean they shouldn’t be able to buy tickets to shite then if we ever get good again.
frick fairweather fans.

I don’t feel like The Ballpark in Arlington closing is super monumental. This seems unnecessary and the idiots melting probably rarely go to games anyway.
Posted on 4/19/19 at 1:58 pm to McCaigBro69
Should have built the new ball park at the olds valley view mall site on 635/tollway. No one wants to drive 1.5 hour round trip for baseball.

Monday night game with horrible traffic and a short work/school week. And it’s miserable there with the sun beating down on you for at least 1/2 the game unless you’re behind home plate. Just too painful a process.

Ranger fan support is pretty poor in general
The Rangers still drew 2 million fans last year, despite losing nearly 100 games. They still get decent attendance when they are really bad, and they are top 5 in MLB when they are good.
They have very good fan support, despite a lot of obstacles. The Ballpark itself is a great, but Arlington is not convenient for a lot fans in the area. It’s a trek from Dallas, especially North Dallas. It can easily take over and hour from the booming areas up in Collin County.
The location sucks, but the heat is a major factor. Summers are long and hot in North Texas. Temperatures are routinely in the mid 90’s starting in early June until the very end of the season.

Have you ever been to a game during the week?
I left straight from work in Rowlett at 5:30 and got to the stadium at 6:10.
Sun was behind the stadium by first pitch and it was like 70 degrees.
Just making shite up because you’re too damn lazy to go out there or don’t give a shite to begin with.

It’s too far out. Too expensive to Uber and driving out there is a pain in the arse. I’d definitely go more if it was a ~$10ish Uber ride, but as it stands, I’ll go to 1-3 games a year when they get better

How is it so hard for to you to understand that damn near no MLB team save for teams like the Yankees and Red Sox who have downtown stadiums with massive public transport infrastructure nearby are going to have a respectable draw on an April Monday night game? Why is this so hard for you to accept?

You drove roughly 40 miles in 40 minutes during peak traffic hours? Really? Kinda hard to believe my dude.
Hell, I live in Lower Greenville which is about half the distance. Waze says it would take me 40 minutes to get the Globe Life Park right now and current traffic is nowhere near as bad as it would be during the start of rush hour.

Monday night was the Stars 1st home playoff game since 2016. I thought about going to the Ranger game, but opted for the Stars instead.

A lot of people are really pissed about the new stadium. We see it as a waste of money and there’s no easy way to get to it. A downtown Dallas stadium would have DART rail connections from all directions and the TRE from Ft. Worth. The fans here really like the Ballpark. Frankly, it’s one of the best venues I’ve been to in the league. There’s just not a lot of excitement around here about the new stadium; the team hasn’t been very good either.

I mean I’m sure it took 45-48 minutes I just rounded the time.
I literally hit no traffic aside from 30/35 merger.
And idk what you don’t seem to understand about me and the Monday night attendance lol. I don’t care if no one goes. Easier to leave for me afterwards.
I’m just saying that I agree with the club asking people to buy tickets for two other games to gain access to the final series. Nobody aside from hardcore Ranger fans are going to do that to begin with. The entitlement of people bitching about their decision is just insane.
Buy a ticket off of stubhub, or go to three games. Not like they are forcing you to buy season tickets.
