Stefanos and Alex going to the third. Djokovic and Ruud play later today. Swiatek blew out Sabalenka.

Love it, mate. Novak wins the Rome final, 6-0, 7-6.

Schwartzman and Isner had a match point in the doubles final, but Schwartzman just missed a forehand return up the line in the ad court. They electrified the crowd this week.

Novak should be the favorite in Paris. If he stays third favorite, I would just call that a mistake by the oddsmakers.

MGM now has him and Alcaraz at +175, Nadal +275, Tsitsipas +600, and Zverev +1400. Caesars has him slight favorite at +160, Alcaraz +175, Nadal +225, Tsitsipas +550, and Zverev +1400.

Gotcha. I bet it’s been a while since the favorite at a slam is +175. Usually much shorter than that because Novak is typically closer even odds it feels like.

It’s going to be Novak’s or Alcaraz’s tournament to lose. Obviously Alcaraz has been amazing this year, but Novak has really found his form. Unfortunately, I think Rafa’s foot will hinder his chances

This is sort of ironic that, since 5 and 6 are split into different halves, Novak is guaranteed to have Rafa or Alcaraz in his half, but Rafa or Alcaraz will be able to reach the final without facing either of the other two.

Still think Novak is gonna be too tough to beat over 5 sets even for Alcaraz

Novak should have been sitting at 22 slams by July, they fricking hosed him

I think this means that Tsitsipas could also be on that same side of the draw. So potentially it could be:

Top half
Djokovic
Tsitsipas
Nadal

Bottom half
Medvedev
Zverev
Alcaraz

Or something like that. Not to mention guys like Sinner, Shapo, etc. that could be trouble wherever they end up.

Yeah that would be a dream draw for Alcaraz (or Rafa) if it plays out that way.

I'm sure it'll happen sooner than later but Thiem's inability to win a professional tennis match at any level is starting to be sort of mind boggling. His groundstrokes are not as powerful as the were before the injury but just barely (2-3 mph lower). He went from being one of the mentally toughest / intense guys on tour to one of the least intense guys out there. It's like he's a different person and is kind of strange to watch.

He has only won 1 set in 6 matches played this year, if I am reading it correctly.

Medvedev lost today. I didn't see how he looked, but I had been wondering if he will just pass on Roland Garros, anyway, as that is a tough physical demand to try to return to. If so, I hope he pulls out before the draw, but these guys have a habit of waiting until the last minute.

I'm assuming the reason Med played Geneva is to get some match play before RG, but who knows. Slams are the best way for the top players to rack up a few hundred points just by making the round of 16 or quarters.

Regarding Thiem, take a guess at his age before Googling it and I bet you'll be surprised. It feels like we were just talking about him being the next #1 on clay and now he seems very unlikely to ever win a French Open.

Feel kinda bad for Thiem. He's never going to catch back up to the young stars. Career completely derailed by injury.

I would say he probably still will be.
