Brian Kelly? They'd only owe LSU $2 million.

I have no idea what is seen in Matt Rhule.
He won 11 games at Baylor in a garbage Big 12. Still never won a game against a ranked opponent there. His only 2 wins against ranked opponents were at Temple in ‘15 against #21 Memphis & ‘16 against #19 Navy.

Penn State and Nebraska are the same program

Penn State won 13 games last year and averaged 9-10 wins/year under Franklin. It's a much better program.

Aside of only two “good” years when he still lost 2+ games in a season in a crap conference?
Guy is fools gold and PSU would make a terrible choice in hiring him

Let me rephrase:
Penn State and Nebraska are the same program in that they both have an inflated sense of how they view themselves compared to who they actually are.

PSU probably has no clue what to do now that Cignetti is out of the running.
I can understand the frustration with Franklin not winning big games and then losing to UCLA and Northwestern. But also, what available coach is better ?
I wonder if it’s a good idea to hire just an ok coach who’s cheap and devote the money to buying better players

Pepperidge Farms remembers when Nebraska was great in the 80s and 90s.

This is old time thinking. Now, any program can be a big time winner if it is willing and able to spend money.

Hed probably never leave Lville, but he would be an animal at Penn State and would scare the entire league. He'd probably win a national title there.
Does everyone just forget Brohm gave the Big 10 a shot at Purdue and decided it wasn't for him?

UCLA tried that and failed. Don’t get me wrong, the jimmies and joes matter. But to win on the national stage requires an elite coach

I didn’t realize that. I knew UCLA hired a cheaper coach but didn’t know they also hired a bunch of good players.
I just think of 2019 LSU. Good coordinators and incredible players but not a top notch HC. You could say the same about 2010 Auburn or 2001 Miami.

He left a Big Ten also ran program, now a bottom feeder, for his alma mater.

The best option is clearly Brian Kelly

Rhule isn't anything special
